This online-privacy tool eliminates system traces and even pop-up ads. AbsoluteShield Internet Eraser Pro lets you hide all browser windows at once with a boss key. It also deletes all tracks from cached Web files, the visited-files history, cookies, typed URLs, index.dat files, saved passwords and usernames, the temporary-files folder, the Recycle Bin, and recently opened documents. Plug-ins eliminate lists of recently used files and playlists created by popular applications such as Kazaa Media Desktop and Windows Media Player. We particularly liked the Profiles feature, which lets you define what to erase and when. The program can automatically delete files on the next Windows start-up if they are currently in use. You can securely erase files so no one can restore them, although the feature could be easier to use. The built-in pop-up blocker works well; its sensitivity adjusts from blocking only invisible pop-ups to killing all new Internet Explorer windows.
