From ATI Technologies :

This release for all Radeon family products updates the AMD Display Driver to version 8.391. This particular software suite updates both the AMD Display Driver, and the Catalyst Control Center. This unified driver has been further enhanced to provide the highest level of power, performance, and reliability.

Catalyst 7.12 introduces an Avivo update, which allows the ATI Catalyst Control Center to reflect what is supported by the driver taking into account the graphics card installed in the system, and will not expose any video features that is not supported by the driver; it also adds enhanced ATI Overdrive support for the ATI RadeonHD 2900 Series.
