AP Mobile News Network is one of your better choices for keeping up with the latest news on your iPhone or iPod Touch. This free, easy-to-use application has a gratifyingly responsive interface that gives you quick access to news headlines, photos, and videos.
Headlines are broken down into Top News, Local (you can specify your ZIP code or use your iPhone's location), Sports, Business, Travel, Politics, and Showbiz, each with further subcategories (for example, baseball, auto racing, hockey, and so on, under Sports) that you choose from a slick, sliding, horizontal navigation bar. It's easy to save stories to read later and also share stories with friends using e-mail or SMS. The application even has an option for submitting a "report" on a story, along with a photo.
AP Mobile will now take advantage of the iPhone and iPod Touch's new ability to push breaking news stories when the app is closed, to feeds representing stories you'd like to be pinged about. In addition to saving stories and sharing them through text, e-mail, Facebook and Twitter, Evernote users can also file them in their personal notes.
