Editors' Note: Learn how to uninstall AOL Toolbar.
This free toolbar offers AOL members one-click access to tons of popular applications.
AOL Toolbar (for Firefox) attaches a slim toolbar to your Firefox window. The buttons are bright, and pleasing to the eye. Of course, you need to be an AOL member in order to enjoy all of its components, especially the e-mail and instant messaging features. If you're not a member, you'll be directed to the appropriate Web page when trying to access some features, but may also get an error message before it goes to the page. Among its features is a nice selection of game links are provided by games.com. We were also able to easily add shortcuts to popular sites like Facebook, Flicker, and IMDb using the large button gallery. A ticker, or Surfometer, shows you how many pages you've viewed during your online session. You'll find standard toolbar features like a pop-up blocker and weather forecast, although the weather forecast doesn't actually display weather information on the toolbar. Instead, it takes you directly to AOL's weather site. What you won't find here are privacy settings, such as a cache or browser history cleaner.
We highly recommend this customizable and handy toolbar for all AOL users.
The newly updated AOL Toolbar plugs into your Firefox browser and gives you one-click access to your favorite sites. With AOL Search (enhanced by Google) included on the Toolbar, you can easily search the Web right from your toolbar. There's also an AOL and AIM Email preview so you can quickly check your Inbox. The new Surfometer shows how many Web pages you visit: by day, week, month and even year. Finally, a new button gallery lets you easily add links to your favorite websites onto your Toolbar. This version is the first release in CNET Download.com.
