Though the graphics of this pool sim aren't as polished as those of some competing games, the gameplay makes you feel every bit the pool shark. 3D Live Pool gives you 10 types of pool games from which to choose. Play against a friend or the computer, but don't be afraid to put a little English on the cue ball. The balls roll quite realistically, but the controls aren't easy to master. What's more, they can't be changed. We weren't too pleased with the short 15-game trial or the disabling of many of the game's functions. We like the networked aspect of the game, since if you've challenged all your friends and beaten them soundly, it's good to find another group of players. The learning curve aside, this is a decent game of pool that should keep PC sharks busy.
