This real-time, 3D-modeling and -animation tool offers everything you need to create complex models using either premade 3D primitives or object-building tools. The tutorials and example drawings make this program an excellent introduction to 3D modeling and animation. Although the complex array of features is what sets 3D Canvas apart, it may take some time to learn the tools' functionality when everything is new to you.Luckily, the tutorials and help files are excellent. Starting a model is surprisingly easy. Simply drag one of the predefined primitives into the work space and begin by placing your object in a scene. You can paint 3D objects and animate their shapes and positions in real time, or record to an AVI video file for distributing your creation. The 3D Canvas interface is extremely intuitive, with objects and palettes conveniently accessible from clearly visible tabs and panels.
This freeware version of 3D Canvas is an excellent program with a multitude of varied features and plenty of things to play with.

Version: 3D Canvas 7.1.1.2
Pros: on vista this program wants you turn the uac back on.
Cons: i'm 100% sure i would rarely use this so instead of turning on the uac i uninstalled the program just for requesting me to reset my setting just for it.

Version: 3D Canvas 7.1.1.2
Pros: Create 3D graphics/objects out of 3D objects "primitives", instead of "geometric lines, curves, etc.", animated movies, Import/Export many different formats such as directX, 3DO, Create your own textures, high resolution image backdrops/backgrounds.
Cons: A bit of a learning curve when using some of the object creation tools.
A bit hard to get different objects/pieces of my project in perfect alignment.
System crashes, but not often due to the video/graphics demands of 3D Canvas. -

"I design a tool, take a print to the forge, and make it"
Pros: The even the FREE version has full animation. 3DCanvas works using a drag and drop method. Whatever you make can be sent to your printer. The PRO ver. is $69.95 USDollars. For what this program can do, it is a great, great price!!!
Cons: There are textures that can be downloaded, getting them to show in the dropdowns can be tricky. But, THAT is all that I find wrong with 3DC
Summary: Being a Ornamental Blacksmith, I make my own tools. 3D Canvas allows me to design whatever I need, easily. I've used the program for 9yrs. It works with WIN. 98SE, ME, XP, XP2, XP3 AND VISTA ( note: These operating sytems I have personally used with... read more >>

"At first glance, a useful addition to my 3D 'workouts'."
Pros: I have had very little chance to use it for the moment though, I should wish to purchase the upgrades or the full product. Working with Lightwave and Bryce in order to bring my showreel to completion.
Cons: Once I purchase the Pro version thus enableing me to export objects, I cannot foresee any problems. The product is well priced and good value for money.
Summary: I'd wish to be brief. It's a great tool for beginners or those starting out getting their
head around working in 3D. - See all 4 user reviews Write review
