CNET Editors' review
This ultrabasic pop-up stopper offers decent protection from ads, but its lack of features may lead some users to the competition. 1st Popup Killer & IE Assistant appears as a small icon in your Web browser's toolbar. Clicking its button brings up the very minimal options for blocking pop-ups, quashing Flash ads, and refreshing the Web page after a specified number of seconds. You can choose to allow pop-ups from a certain site with a quick press of the Ctrl key, but you won't find a whitelist or any other customization options. In our tests, the program was quite capable against the majority of standard pop-ups and Flash ads, but it wasn't able to eliminate banners. The program emits a barely audible beep when it stops an ad, but its icon doesn't flash or change. 1st Popup Killer & IE Assistant does its main job, but more capable offerings are readily available.Publisher's Description
From ZS webcollector:
1st Popup Killer & IE Assistant is a lightweight plug-in for Internet Explorer. With a special filter engine, it intelligently kills advertising pop-up windows and blocks Macromedia Flash ads. It may automatically refresh your favorite Web page at any predefined interval. The pop-up-blocking function can be temporarily disabled by holding down the Ctrl key. Residing on the IE toolbar with an icon button, this utility is small and easy to use, never interfering with or slowing down normal browsing.
