This file compression tool offers the convenience of previewing an entire file before extracting it, and it does so free of charge.

Zipeg for Windows has a very simple interface that will appeal to all users. The minimal command buttons allow you to open files, and extract and preview them. There is also an Options button that lets you select the file you would like the program to open by default, and also where to place the destination file. When we opened a compressed file, the file's contents were displayed in the main window. Hovering the mouse over each individual file displayed the file's size, including the compression size and the modification date. The preview option allowed us to view the entire file without having to extract it first.

Zipeg keeps you in charge of the extraction process. We highly recommend this freeware app for all users. It left no traces on our computer when we uninstalled it.

Developer's Description

Decompress your RAR and ZIP archives.
Zipeg is universal .rar and .zip file opener that works on Windows and Mac OS X. If you ever needed just one photo, song or document from the huge archive that has been downloaded or arrived via e-mail--Zipeg is definitely right for you. Zipeg is tiny but mighty utility. It handles the alphabet soup of variety of archives in addition to commonplace zip and rar. It also does tar, tgz, gzip, bzip2, iso just to name a few. Zipeg allows you to choose the destination where to extract and merge files (default is your Desktop), intelligently handles the folder names. You can select individual folder inside archive and extract only that folder and subfolders. Zipeg fully support multipart rar and zip files (those that come in multitude as file.part1.rar ... file.part99.rar) and password protected files (provided that you know the password).
