This extremely thorough program strikes us more like a full-blown typing course rather than a simple skills-building program. Yesolo on the Keyboard's developer lays out his philosophy and teaching methods before you begin and encourages you throughout the 100 lessons, a personal touch we really appreciated. Before you start, you must take a test so the program can evaluate your current capabilities. Since the application keeps your statistics throughout all the lessons, you can track your progress as you improve. However, some users will likely find the program's approach too heavy-handed, as you must complete every lesson before moving to the next one. We wish you could skip around, and the ability to customize the look of the onscreen keyboard would have been nice. When you make an error, the application emits an oops sound, which soon began to grate on our nerves and ensured that we turned off our computer's speakers. Though users looking for a quick-and-dirty typing tutorial will find Yesolo on the Keyboard too unflexible, absolute beginners will be hard-pressed to find a more comprehensive learning tool.

Touch-typing is a skill that everyone can build. However, it is never going to be magically easy no matter what tutor you download. This one does more than just give you exercises - it uses a unique approach that explains details of hand positions, how to approach different exercises, etc., and also helps you to keep motivated. Note, by the way, that there is also a UK keyboard version available from the author's site.
Cons
Sometimes some of the comments can start to sound repetitive / condescending, but they work if you take them in the spirit that was intended.

Summary
I never learned to touch type and thought this would be a good product to teach me. The repetition drills are a good idea, and I like that it gives you time to complete, WPM, etc stats. There are, however, a couple of major problems with the software. Most importantly, the on-screen keyboard that highlights what keys to press highlights the wrong keys. For example, when I'm supposed to type a J, it's showing P (though when I do press J it recognized that as the correct button.) Also, it's too text heavy, and much of the text isn't instruction, it's encouragement and jokes. It's also annoying that it literally won't let you skip lessons. So when you're reading through the endless introduction, you can't move on until you've done a dozen warmup exercises.
It really teaches to type, thank you!

Fantastic approach, have never seen such before. It develops the skill, the speed and your way of thinking. I loved particularly the motivation this program provides. Sometimes the texts seem a bit strange, but the method works in the long run. Let me thank the authors.
