Wings 3D is a subdivision modeler inspired by Nendo and Mirai from Izware. It is possible to assign materials, vertex color, UV coordinates and textures. There is no support in Wings for doing animations. However, Wings boasts a wide array of modeling tools, customizable hotkeys, and a context sensitive user interface that is easy to use by both beginners and advanced users alike.

Simple to use but lacking in animation ability.

Pros
Ease of use after only a short while. Modelling is quite straight forward when you get the hang of it.
Cons
No animation ability or rigging tools. UV mapping can be hit or miss. Not enough tutorials for beginners.
Summary
Worth spending time trying this before moving on to Blender. You can get some pleasing results which can be exported as an OBJ file for rigging in another application.

Pros
It's free. Wings is a very good, easy to use program. Compared to version 1.2 the interface is more advanced and things can be accessed easier. You can export in a lot of file formats. ... and 1.4.1 has a shiny grey information line.
Cons
The new 1.4.1 interface seems cluttered with tools I do not find useful. It does not feel like Wings to me - think I'll stick with 1.2 for now.
Summary
A good 3D design program but not as good as 1.2. Useful if you are designing objects for a game.

Pros
Free. You can create/place objects of various types; there is a lot of POTENTIAL in this app. Good performance. GUI is well thought-out but busy- could be confusing to newer to 3D modelers. It confused me several times and I have some experience.
Cons
GUI and mouse control take some getting used to; object modification (including material asignment) is overly difficult. I was unable to successfully modify primitives and group/combine objects. OpenGL window was buggy and flickering constantly.
Summary
Flawed but this application has HUGE POTENTIAL! I won't give up on it yet, but I don't see a primary modeling tool in this version.

Difficult to understand if you've never tried 3d meshing before. <p>But you'll get the hang of it eventually!

it is very simple to get the hang of very good modeler. I would advise it to people new to modeling beacouse it is so simple.

It would be better if you could use textures on your models and had a bone animator

simply just a free 3d modeler or thats what you think this was one of the first 3d modelers i used its easy to use and no polly limit. this is basicly a good program, i think tho this program seems hard to conker but after a few attempts dam you can models ace models <p> <p>i still use it some times
