Where is my Disk Space? was inspired by my brother whose hard disk was full up and he did not know where all the space had gone to. I had to trawl through all his folders finding out where all the space had gone. Using Sherlock found large files quite easily but was very slow. But it could not find folders that were using a lot of disk space, duplicate files, empty folder, or files which were part of a useless folder that could be trashed. Where is my disk space? analyses your hard disk and displays the results in size ordered windows so you can see where your disk space is being used up.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />It does what it says it does, and it does it fairly quickly, despite the 100,000+ files on my boot drive. GUI is pretty plain, but not a problem. Helped me quickly find the reason why my HD had been whittled away (multiple backups of a 27MB database, which I had configured the related program to do, but had forgotten).
This would be enhanced if it gave more information about the found files, and indicated whether they can be safely deleted, but that's an enormous task for a shareware author to undertake and I wonder if people would see enough value in it to justify what such an additional feature of this size would cost to collect the data (ongoing, of course) and implement.
I haven't used it on my auxilary disks yet, but I'll bet the search for duplicates feature will help me save huge gobs of space.
