Editors’ Review
Empty for Mac monitors your Mac's accumulated trash, informing you how much space your trash is occupying and providing a notification when it's time for a cleanup. It's light and to the point, but it could do with more features.
Pros
No frills: While Empty for Mac does only two things, it does them well. It monitors your Trash and provides a notification when your Trash reaches a certain size. If this is the functionality you need, this little app provides it.
Intuitive interface: From its place on the Menu Bar, this app lets you access a handy slider for setting the Trash size. Everything you need to know and do is quick and easy to access.
Cons
Not essential: You may not really need this app. Though its monitoring features and notifications are useful, they are not indispensable if you're an average Mac user. It would have been more useful if it had an integrated "Empty Trash" button.
Only available on Mac OS X 10.8: Oddly, this rudimentary application works only on Mountain Lion and the more recent Mac OS X version.
Bottom Line
If you are worried about the amount of Trash you're accumulating, you might want to get Empty for Mac. It's a basic application that does not really add anything significant to your computer, but does enable you to monitor the size of your Trash bin. Still, you'll find it useful if you deal with a lot of short-lived media files, such as films, images, and music.
