This application may not impress professionals due to its simple interface, but you'll be satisfied by the additional virtual desktops. Virtual Desk has a simple but skinnable interface. The number of desktops is set by the skin and limited by installed memory. If you're working with many applications and documents, this tool can categorize them by desktop and allows you to switch from one working desktop to another with just a press of a hot key or mouse click. You also can set every desktop with its own background and screensavers to help you to quickly recognize where you're working. The Sticky feature declares a particular application to appear in every desktop. Though novices will find this application easy to set up and use, intermediate users who wish to become power users will be frustrated by a weak help file. The Flash-based demonstration file is not at all helpful. Novices to advanced users who need more desktop space will find this application a great help.

Great except for one thing

Easy to install and pleasant to use (apart from THE one problem).
Cons
I have never used virtual desktops before so maybe my expectations were mistaken. I thought you were supposed to have different applications - and their icons - on each desktop. I now have four desktops each with its own wallpaper but all having the same application shortcuts on them. When I delete a shortcut on one desktop it disappears in the other three. <p>No idea how to place a shortcut in one desktop and not in another. <p>The Help file seems to assume that I already know how.

Easy install on Windows 2000. Simple interface. Works.
Cons
Toolbar alerts can cause switching back and forth if you are switching desktops as the alerts come in. And the alerting window may then switch desktops. An annoyance with IM if you are in a fast conversation.

I didn't explore the software much due to the fact that right off I ran into problems. I set my desktop image for desktop 1, then switched desktops and went back again, and it was gone. To me, having individual desktop images really helps me keep track of where I am. Furthermore, I'm not willing to pay money for a piece of software with such a major bug.
