• Not worth the trouble

  On my trial period it worked beautiful for 5 days "only"

  support sucks cannot reinstall on the same computer stops working after a few days again support sucks..

  Summary

  On my trial period it worked beautiful for 5 days then when the trial period ended it was not caching any more, bought the personal edition for $9 but when I did the activation it still did not see my SSD, tried to reinstall but was getting my key was not valid and or in needed an activation key, send and email to support?? which I got an stupid respond by saying "the key is only valid for one computer" after sending another email with no response I tried to do the activation again, I guess they decided to give me another try, any way after the activation it worked for a week an then again i'm getting the trial period is over.. an is not caching any more.. don't waste your money..

  Noticeable improvement in peformance for a few glorious hours before epic fail/crash/death

  Cons

  Bootdisk killed: bluescreen before logon, recovery points inaccessible, system restore impossible (acc to Windows), reinstall inevitable (EPIC FAIL)

  Summary

  Noticeable performance boost after installation (caching 32GB from a bootable SSD on 3GB port to a 32GB partition on a SSD on a 6GB port - my system had no boot-supporting 6GB ports hence VeloSSC was a solution to get 6GB performance in the OS). Note the cache was 32GB as was the partition - VeloSSD defaulted the cache size to ca 2/3 the partition but let me raise it up to the full size of the partition without any warnings. During operation Windows (not VeloSSD) gave several warnings that the cache partition was getting full. Restarting next day, Windows had some trouble starting. Not sure it was VeloSSD, I decided to remove the cache using VeloSSD to see if problems went away. VeloSSD confirmed successful removal and prompted reboot. Since then nothing but bluescreen upon bootup: recovery points unavailable, system repair not possible. EPIC FAIL! Still liked performance so much I might try it again after system a system image backup available. I THINK THE PROBLEM WAS SETTING THE CACHE SIZE TOO CLOSE TO THE PARTITION VOLUME - LIMIT THE SIZE OF THE CACHE TO THE SIZE VeloSSD SUGGESTS FOR THE SELECTED PARITION. Still one star as I don't know whether this really fixes the issue...

  Did not seem to successfully install. Recommended uninstall procedure is extremely complicated - see summary below.

  Summary

  WARNING - CREATE A DISK IMAGE OF YOUR SSD DRIVE BEFORE INSTALLING THIS SOFTWARE. I tried to install this onto my Corsair 180GB SSD to cache my 2TB HDD in Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. The installation went fine, following which I was prompted to reboot. I did so, and my computer went to the Windows screen and hung there. I waited for 1o minutes but it did not progress passed that to the Windows sign-on screen. I powed down, tried again with the same result. Fortunately, I had an image backup from the previous night, so I was able to restore my system with no harm. There is no documentation for this product on the web site, and the only support is a user forum. I posted my problem, and was first given an extremely lengthly method to remove the software, which involved, among other things, multiple registry entries being deleted, modified...etc. I was asked to post my disk configuration, which I haven't gotten around to yet, but it is extremely generic - 1 SSD, and 1 unpartitioned HDD, so if it doesn't work on this setup, I would be surprised if it works anywhere. Response to my support request in the user forum (this is the only support for the product): When an installation does not work you can easily restore your system with booting the Windows DVD and following the instructions below. ---> There is no data loss at all<--- But you need to be precise in following the instructions. I will post them with screenshots again when i got more time. Or maybe someone else wants to do this. How to manually remove a VeloSSD Cache. -good for benchmarked crash and burn systems, -short, clear procedure, max. 10 minutes to go. So it works: Boot from your Windows DVD -click next until you see "Repair your computer", click it. On the next screen select your volume and click next. On the next screen click "command prompt" when you have cached your boot volume type: bootrec /fixmbr In either case type then: regedit The Registry Editor pops up. Click select: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Click: File->Load Hive A file dialog pops up. Navigate to directory: C:\Windows\system32\config Select File: SYSTEM Click: OPEN A Dialog named "Load Hive" pops up. type in any name you want and click OK. The file gets loaded and appears with this name in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Tree. Select the name. The Click Edit->Find and enter the following int the find dialog Velossd Click FindNext For every search hit you delete the found entry to the left. This will be maybe 10 times but can also be less or more. When ready navigate back to the named entry and select it. Click File->UnloadHive end regedit type: chkdsk /F Close other open dialog and let the machine reboot.
