Despite its everything-but-the-kitchen-sink interface, Ultra Tag Editor makes a fine tool for editing ID3 tags. The quick installation process automatically detects your default system language and makes the appropriate changes in the interface. The application window overflows with buttons and tabs, but most users will get their bearings after spending a few minutes with the included help file. When you manually select a file folder or insert a CD with MP3s, the program swiftly scans the contents and displays the relevant files. ID3v1.0 and v2.0 tag information appears in a neatly organized side-by-side display. A useful summary bar below provides information such as track size, duration, bit rate, encoder, and copyright. Other features include a music player, a batch-file renamer, and a batch-tag converter. Ultra Tag Editor isn't the most elegant utility we've seen, but otherwise it's a perfect companion for people with huge MP3 collections.

Good program, loaded with landmines

Easy to use. Fairly intuitive.
Cons
File renaming doesn't work. Deleting files from the GUI means they also disappear from your hard drive. Permanently. Can think of no other software which does this. Means you have to make safeties of everything. Major drawback. Evaluation copy limits folder size to 20 files.

Im actually amazed this has four stars. Id give it 1, AT BEST. I first noticed it doesnt have a search-and-replace function... oh well, I'll live. But, as I'd worked through a whole set of albums, cataloging them, the ultratagger just reset it all. Three full hours of work, out the window. I should charge them, not the other way around.

Right guys, <p> <p>I have tried 4 or 5 programmes before this one, but this one is the best & easiest-to-use. <p> <p> <p>FreeDB tool is great, especially when you burn lots of CDs! <p> <p>Built-in player helps a lot to sort out files you don't want to edit. <p> <p>And you can also set up your own hotkeys.. <p> <p>Mmm, that's it. <p> <p>PS 2 wisteareia: It actually allows to save all the work you have done, probably you haven't selected files to save first... :-D

Easily worth the asking price. Ultra Tag Editor has one of the most intuitive user interfaces around, I didn't have to read the help once.
Cons
A very small niggle but one thing that springs to mind is the behaviour of disabled fields in the Tag Editor tab (in the tools section). I would perfer it if you couldn't type into fields unless they were enabled, and it would also be useful if you could specify the colour of disabled fields; on my laptop it's not always so easy to distinguish a greyed field.

Allows you to tag files if you know the artits or title. Allso renames files based on tag information. Fairly intuitive and simple installation

Really easy to use, and is fast to use, and also has advanced features in case you want them.
Cons
It's not really a free trial. It's an evaluation ONLY. You can do pretty much everything except for save the work you do with this version.

Quite nice small-size program for home or pro use. <p> <p>Built in mp3-player makes it easier to sort the music on my hard drive, and it can work in the background instead of realplayer that I've used previously. <p> <p>Bulk mp3 tags edition is what I was looking for for a long time.
