This perfectly compact program sports an easy-to-use interface and makes recording audio from a PC a breeze. RecordAnything is true to its name, allowing you to record any song, conversation, or other noise that travels through your sound card. To start or stop recording, you simply click a program button conveniently located in the program tray. You can either manipulate recording levels or let the program ably deal with the details for you. Other settings include audio channel, recording volume, and MP3 quality. We were especially impressed that RecordAnything supports VBR (variable bit rate) files. When saving files, you are required to both name and edit MP3 tags manually. Overall, this is a great program for audiophiles who want to capture all their favorite Net radio tunes or memorable conversations on "tape."

simple and effective to record streaming internet radio
talljonNovember 8, 2008
Pros
Ease of installation. System tray icon for instant recording and stopping of music being played. Fairly simple to save recorded file for listening to later on the computer. Test version let me copy more than 30 sec (mine was about 4 minutes).
Cons
None that I've found yet.
Summary
THere is a system tray icon for instant access for recording (click it once to start recording; click it twice to open up the setting configuration). I changed the input channel to "what u hear" and saved the setting. I was able to instantly start recording an internet radio stream. When I clicked on the system tray icon again it stopped recording. I just had to select the folder to save the file into and give the file a name. Effective and simple. Great Job! I'm going to buy the full version :-)

Seemed to work only from the tray. No easy interface. Very few options. Uninstall tried to load a web page, which should never be required in my opinion

Cons

Pros
First off...it is the only program that allows 80min of trial recording with no 30sec cap on individual recordings. Very smart and confident move. Once you try it you'll buy it. Record at up to 320bps quality. User friendly. One of the few that stays the _ _ _ _ out of your way in the system tray with one click start/stop record. When you stop {finish} a recording, a window automatically pops up asking what you want to title it and the location where you want to keep it. My guess is the person who developed this program has tried to record {what you hear} on a personal level. Didn't think I would live that long.
Cons
No cons. Too positive for you? Ok...nothings perfect...IT ISN'T FREE! Is that better?

Cons
First of all, I downloaded and installed this disaster and it crashed my computer; it took three days to restore it. After stabilizing my comp, with much trepidation I tried the program again, not only didn't it work but now it wanted me to pay for using it. THEY'RE NOT GETTING ONE RED CENT!

Pros
Extremely easy to use... all you have to do is click a button on your taskbar. Does everything it's supposed to. Saving it in mp3 format is very convenient.
Cons
Not the program's fault, but obviously you can't filter sounds out... (turn off your instant messengers) Also, if you're working in a full-screen program you can't really click the button, can you?
