This desktop enhancement utility offers some additional ways to manage open windows, though you won't find any other functions here. Just right-click on the target window at the taskbar and choose among the options or use the shortcut icons from the title bar. TweakWindow allows you to take control of open windows by quickly adjusting the transparency or simply hiding it. Its ghost-window feature lets you see two windows at once by slightly minimizing one and making it transparent, yet clickable. The program's roll-up option shrinks windows to their title bar for more screen space. You also can replace the display icon and window title that appear when minimized with a decoy using the chameleon feature. TweakWindow is hot-key accessible and can exclude specified programs from its operations. Though it isn't feature-rich, this 15-day trial application works well for those juggling several windows at a time.

What's new in version 1.5

  • The "Easy window moving" feature is added.
  • The feature for quickly hiding / minimizing a window into the tray without moving the mouse is added.

Developer's Description

Manage and enhance windows on your desktop.

TweakWindow is a handy window enhancement utility with a wealth of options. You can set your own transparency options, hide, minimize to tray, roll up, place window always on top of all others, and make it 'ghost'. All of this can be done via hotkeys, though window's system menu or by adding appropriate buttons to the window itself. In addition to standard features, TweakWidnow offers unique capabilities, like an option to change window icon or title so that no one can just come over and see what program you are running. One-click window minimization to the system tray is a great option for software that are automatically launched upon startup but aren't currently used.

Window ghosting is a feature that makes a window topmost and semi-transparent. All clicks will go through that window to the one located beneath, but the ghost window can still be closed, minimized, maximized, and resized. Version 1.5 adds new options and fixes some bugs.
