This versatile, skinable freeware clock doubly shines as a helpful system diagnostic tool. SysMetrix's configuration interface simply presents every option with samples and previews where appropriate. You can edit themes or import new ones with little difficulty. The included twelve themes cover many configurations of the clock and tools. The short but useful help file includes a list of dozens easily monitored system areas.

SysMetrix is delightfully simple to use. The taskbar tray icon opens a very useful pull-down menu that features single-click options to quickly activate your screen saver, Windows Explorer, the default Web browser, e-mail client, text editor, or media player. The program's main display options depend on the themes you choose. Many of the included themes use histograms that are too small to deliver much information. However, the utility makes it very easy to change any part of a theme. Not only can you easily add monitoring gauges to any theme, but you can also easily create your own theme with the exact tools you want displayed. Our testers found the monitoring tools accurate, useful, and easily set.

Novice users may not feel comfortable exploring this tools many features and options. Other users will find the theme settings simple to improve. With just a few minutes use, intermediate to advanced users will make quick and logical SysMetrix's diagnostic's tools for simple desktop display.

Pros
Provides great visibility and keeps your system clock spot on with the NITSA (Atomic Clock) sync feature. Also allows real time monitoring of I/O traffic on the net and shows free space on your disk drives.
Cons
The Disk display can be customized to display stats on any drive, I have not been able to change the text showing drive C or drive D to the drive letter actually used. My boot drive H not C as indicated in text. Stats are of drive H not drive C.
Summary
Great compact program with several skins to fit your taste. Fairly stable I have seen a few programs conflict with it. But if it crashes it is goes away gracefully and re-launching it brings back full functionality. I recommend this program for those that want to view system stats real time!

SysMetrix is a skinnable clock and metering program. Date, time, CPU usage, or IP address can be monitored displayed in various skins and configurations. I like to use it to monitor my CPU useage during the day to see weather too many of my start-up programs are slowing my comp down or if rouge program might be taking over my PC and constantly running my CPU At 100% <p>Overall a great system monitoring tool.

Would like to have system tray icon more customizeable to show a digital numerical read-out instead of just a bar graph.

Simple install, with almost a dozen variations to choose from. Ranging from an antique clockface to some very modern, unobtrusive sidebars. For someone like me, who wasn't necessarily looking for an over-the-top, too-much-info interface, I'd call it perfect. Hell, there's even a weather option for the themes that support it. <p>Seperate monitors for all your drives, the recycle bin, and email, plus bandwidth in/out meters. I'm not really a computer-junkie, but I don't know what more you could really want one of these things to do. <p>To top it off, it throws a cute litte orange-on-black meter into your toolbar, kind of like having a campfire to warm your toes by.
