Compare the structure of two databases and display the difference.

The Free Database Compare application will allow you to compare the structure of two databases and display all the differences between them. Supported databases include: SQL Server (All Editions), MySQL and Access databases. You can compare two different databases, like access and SQL 2000. It will also allow you to create snapshots of a database and compare a live database to a snapshot. A database structure viewer is included.

Version 2.0.15 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

Couldn't get it to work. Hung when trying to select a server. Ended task. "Automation error" when trying to select a database. :-(

Pros
simple, fast, and compares both Access (JET) and SQL tables - exactly what I needed! Filter to show only tables with differences is an essential feature when working with large databases.
Cons
Filter to show only tables with differences should also filter fields that are different, not just at the table level. You can spot the differing fields by their icon, but why not have the filter apply to the fields as well.
Summary
Author plans to include better reporting in a future paid version and I would buy it in the $25/30 price range. As a free app, it's very good - a big thanks to the author.
OK for tables but doesn't do Microsoft Access forms

OK for tables. Has a clear list of differences that you can then click on and see line-by-line differences.
Cons
Doesn't do Access forms. Probably doesn't do reports either. Didn't bother much after I saw forms weren't there.
Summary
OK for free, but there are plenty of other table-only db compare tools. AdeptSQL Diff does a much nicer job for SQL Server, including scripting.
Very good and it's free !

lots of tolls missing, like execute the changes between da two database compare, and even count all the tables records list

Manque certains filtres simples (ex: ignorer les commandes "Set").

The new version is a huge step ahead of the fist version. Just specify the user and databases to compare and quickly get back an easy to read report on the differences.
