Stig's Sky Calendar is a free program that provides the aspiring astronomer, or those who just want to know about the skies above them, information on events concerning the sun, the moon, the planets, and other celestial bodies. Any user interested in our solar system will like this fun little app.

Sky Calendar has an attractive, colorful, easy-to-use interface that offers a lot of information at a glance. Once your location is selected, the software will provide information such as the rising and setting times, as well as relative position in the sky, of the sun and moon. You can also view the entire solar system, which we thought was a fun bonus. And, if you have other like-minded friends or family members, the app also permits the creation and sharing of the events.

Stig's Sky Calendar is a very cool app that manages to teach you about the solar system, and what's happening in your neck of the woods, in a fun way. A few folders were left behind after uninstalling the program and these had to be manually removed.

Great Program For Older PC's and 32 Bit Systems

Pros
This program has everything you need including the positions of the planets, sunrise and sunset times, star map and more. Also shows the moon phase information.
Cons
Does not work on my 64 bit Windows 7 laptop, it's saying that I need a 64 bit program. This is good if you a 32 bit OS which is really old and out of date these days because many PC's are 64 bit.

This program was a great program until I got a laptop with a 64 bit OS.
I use this software nightly to help find the planets.

It was easy to work

It took over the startup screen and that was a big no no for me.
Summary
Even when I uninstalled it I had to go to the registry to locate the files and manually remove them because it would still show up on the full desktop at startup and I would have to click out of it.

Wonderfully detailed information. Easy to use interface. Reasonably intuitive maps in all the applets. Good, web-based, help file. Some very cool features, e.g., try moving your mouse across the main menu while the planet finder applet is open. <p> <p>To those with installation problems, do you have JAVA properly installed? Requirements should indicate this.
