  I have been looking for this type software for some time, Simply Track (ST)is priced favorably. The ST staff supports the program quickly and professionally. The program is versitile over many brokerages and also has a universal (generic) input mode. There is more to the wash sale adjustment than meets the eye. ST will combine many same day, same price, fills and then compute the wash sale adjustments. This reduces the number of Schedule D lines and makes importing to TaxCut possible (3000 line limit I am told). TurboTax has a 600 line input limit (again I am told). When you trade many times within the same day, a year end brokerage report will show (to the IRS) all transactions ramdomly without time tags for that day. It is nearly impossible to recombine these partial fills manually if you trade a lot. Some sales, appearing first, will end up looking like shorts, depending on the broker reporting order (and vice versa). Often with numerous transaction lines, extra wash sale adjustments are needed (which are also difficult to do manually). There are other problems that have been taken care of. ST takes care of all of this for the trader. I don't know how I got along without it in the past. I was audited for 2005 and was lucky they didn't get into the wash sale requirement, though they did mention it was necessary. After combining and matching up the trades a Schedule D can be printed or exported to either of the above tax prep packages. Either will then enable electronic filing. There is much much more but suffice it to say that you shouldn't judge ST by its price, it is a sophisticated package that is easier to use by far than trying to do this sort of year end tax prep manually.

  I have been using Simply Track with out any issues for last year or so, I was able to import my trades from Ameritrade, Brownco to generate my capital gains and losses reports . I am really impressed with the product, It is fast and inexpensive and well worth it for the money i paid. I had my Schedule D with Wash Sales for 2005 done in just a few minutes. The best thing I like about these guys is they respond to support questions real fast!

  I use the most widely used internet brokerage in existence: Ameritrade. The software would not import my data either directly from the website using the online mode or from a file sitting on my desktop. I can't imagine how the program is of any use to anybody. Maybe someday Simply Track will have a product that works, but I'm not going to wait around until they do.

  Pros

  This is an effective program that costs very little. It's easy to input to, and the results and reports are clear and lightning fast. Definitely the program I need to prepare my Schedule D next tax year. Other shareware programs have not worked, but this one works right.

  These people sell a great program very inexpensively, and then support it as if you had paid a million dollars. I had a problem using Simply Track that turned out to be a disconnect in my input data that really was not their fault. But they helped me and helped me until my problem was solved.

  Pros

  I was able to import my capital gains info from multiple accounts into my tax program quickly and easily. The program even handled short sales and wash sales accurately. Everything balanced with my 1099s to the penny. I had one problem with the data that I entered on one account which gave me a chance to test their customer support which was quick and efficient – a real plus in this day and age! I highly recommend Simply Track for anyone that needs to transfer capital gains data from their broker to their income tax program - From Scottrade to TuboTax Premier in my instance.

• Excellent Customer Support and easy to use software

  Pros

  The software is very easy to use without going much into manual/help instructions. The Customer Support Team is excellent in terms of promptness in attending to your technical problems. I was much impressed with the animation they provided to solve my problem in importing Simply Track generated TXF file to Other TAX calculation software.

  first it is not free as it suggests. <p>Don't mind paying but don't fool people by giving false first impression. <p> <p>If it is not free, better make it clear first, so that others don't need to download, install and clutter the h/drive. <p> <p>Second it must be in certain format for the software to recognize the data. There are better softwares out there that do the job quicker and not much effort. <p> <p>I have some doubts about who wrote the reviews before me.

  Easy to use. It deserves more than the worth of price I paid.I was able to import my Ameritrade transactions & generated tax-reports in no time. <p>I am extremely happy with Simply Track.
