1. Easy to setup and use 2. V2.0.2 works for my old OS X 10.6.8 wonderfully 3. Flexible to customize for files not copied or not deleted 4. Created a sparse image file to dedicate to the backup files, which is clearly separated from my other files already stored on the backup hard disc. 5. FREE! FREE!

I have used different versions of SilverKeeper over the years and they have been great! It is nice to know that my files are being backed up every night... I set mine to 1AM when I know I will be sleeping. I also like it that I can select some folders that I do not want backed up.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I've been using Silverkeeper since it was new, and am very happy with this newest version. In the past some files in deeply nested folders would not be backed up, but the new version is thorough and graphically well thought out. The GUI now displays what is being back up with file names and icons, and the alert when each volume is finished is helpful. I would recommend this.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Before 10.5 and Time Machine, I used SK all the time and it backed up my small company' data files every day automatically. It broke under 10.5, which forced me to use TM, which is better anyway, with its multiple, sequential backups (with SK, you only have the most recent b/u). Just for kicks, I downloaded this update that works under 10.5, and backed up my Docs folder on my Macbook to a HD on another Mac on my home network. It took a while, but worked fine. The complaints that it doesn't make a bootable b/u - not sure if it's supposed to or not. It works great for data b/u, which I think is its intent, ideal for pre 10.5/TM users, or if you don't like TM.
