• Seamlessly use multiple machines & monitors

  Pros

  User of paid version, currently version 4.40. - Does its job well, and invisibly - Support for lots of edge cases, like multiple network connections, VPN on one machine, disconnecting a laptop, UAC messages, sign-in screens, etc. - Copy/Paste across devices is very convenient - Ongoing updates consistently improve the product - Not bloatware; does its job and disappears - Reliable (especially recent versions)

  Cons

  - Free version is very limited, especially for laptop users (due to monitor count) - Subscription pricing model will bother some - Fairly expensive for a utility Note to laptop users: Going above (I think) two monitors triggers the "you must upgrade to Pro" message. Unfortunately, docking a laptop will often cause Windows to extend or duplicate the laptop screen to a connected monitor, immediately using up your two free "slots". This is pretty annoying, and (I think) triggers a lot of the complaints. If you don't notice when this happens, ShareMouse will require a restart after a few minutes. Unless you have a VERY simple setup, consider this to be "trialware" instead of "free" software.

  Summary

  I run two laptops and a desktop PC, with one laptop to the left of a 27" monitor and one to the right. The desktop and a laptop share the monitor (I switch between them with the front-panel button) in addition to the laptop panel, so it works out to 3 PCs, 4 screens, with 3 different sizes. With ShareMouse I never have to use a laptop's keyboard or touchpad. With all systems using the same PC full-size keyboard and mouse, it's like I have one big work area - exactly as it should be. One of the laptops is a work computer, so I frequently VPN into the office. This used to confuse ShareMouse, but now this works seamlessly as well - there's a little delay while it reconfigures its networking, but then it just works again. I'll dock/undock a laptop and it remembers the config properly. In short, while I'm not cross-platform windows/mac, it's a reasonably complex setup and it all works great. For me, $20/year is worth it. Unlike a disk utility, I literally use this all day, every day. It makes my life easier, it makes my workflow simpler, and generally I'm just pissed off a lot less. Some will find the subscription model annoying or unfair, but development has been non-stop since I first subscribed. In the 8 months since v4.0 released, there have been 7 updates - about one per month. As long as the developer continues to be committed to the product, and it continues to be so useful to me, I'm happy to support them each year (it's like a $2/month Patreon).

  Pros

  Get garage mouse is better (mouse without borders) This software does work (kind of)

  Cons

  Scam, always trying to get you to pay for it and the licenses are limited, meaning you only get software support and updates for as many years as you pay extra for. What a bunch of bologna. I'm just using this with two laptops, if I copy and paste from on the other I get a message telling me I have to restart the program and upgrade.

  Summary

  DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY - MOUSE WITHOUT BORDERS IS FREE. If this program was $19.99 for life, sure. However, it's a scam so don't.

  Pros

  - Works seamlessly and transition between the two computers is so fast it is unnoticeable - drag & drop and cut & paste between the computers works well, saves time - Great support staff

  Summary

  Works seamlessly to share my mouse and keyboard between my work PC and my personal MacBook while I'm at work. LOVE the ability to drag and drop files between the computers, as well as the cut and paste feature. I generate images on my work PC that I sometimes have to modify in Photoshop on my MacBook which is much more capable. Its so easy to drag the file from my PC desktop to the Mac and back again. It also lets me use the MacBook's iMessage feature so that I can leave my phone turned off and still be able to text on my Mac without having to use a separate keyboard. Sometimes I forget that I'm using two different computers... the transition between the computers is so fast and seamless its amazing.

  * Easy of use - seamless and simple to setup across a network; I've tried and purchased several software sharing apps, and sharemouse is hands-down the easiest app, with notifications and prompts that are actually helpful - anyone can make this work * Pro features like, don't change screens at the edge until I press a key (I use CTRL) are so perfect for avoiding accidental flips and being able to dim the screen is very helpful when you're watching a movie and don't want that second monitor crazy bright while it isn't in use

  * None, even the free version is a fantastic utility

  Pros

  ShareMouse was easy to install with only minor inconvenience configuring. The app detected PC monitors and asked which one was to the right of the other. The configuration was drag-n-drop and completely simple and quick.

  Cons

  The application dims the monitor not in use, and cannot be avoided. Huge screen overlays block reading material on the inactive monitor, but the thing that bothered me most was that after a few minutes of use, the application changed from a free personal license to insisting that I required a professional license. I have external monitors on my laptops and just use the external monitors, not the laptop displays due to my vision requirements. All I need and want are two monitors and the copy buffer feature. The feature page at http://www.keyboard-and-mouse-sharing.com/docs3/09/shop.php suggests this should be fine, but the software does not support it. It insists this must be a professional license to use external monitors, at a minimum $19.95 per year, and complaining after just a few minutes of free use. That seems like "Bait and Switch" in the court system here in the states. I was unable to reach anyone immediately for support.

  Summary

  FREE licensing is basically a LIE based on information on their website. The software will automatically force you into PROFESSIONAL mode and then require that you buy a license. In the United State, there are consumer protection laws against this as the practice is completely illegal. But, this is a European vendor and they can try to pull off whatever they want.

  Pros

  Worked immediately on install (in a Mac+Windows environment). All I had to do was tell it where each monitor was located in relation to each other and it did the rest. I had an issue with the license after formatting (forgot to revoke license first); within 5 minutes of contacting support, I got a response and the issue was resolved.

  Cons

  No cons yet after ~8 weeks daily use.

  Pros

  - Easy setup / use - Great customer service - Seamless switching - Most consistent connection I've seen

  Cons

  When bringing my work laptop back and forth, sometimes the monitors will get skewed, or the connection won't happen right away. This sometimes requires me to quit ShareMouse on both computers and restart them. I consider this a minor inconvenience for something that works so well most of the time.

  Summary

  I have tried two other products over the years: SynergyKM, and Teleport (for Mac). Neither of these come close to the consistency provided by ShareMouse. In simple terms, ShareMouse just works. With the other tools, I would regularly have connection issues that would be hard to recover from. With ShareMouse there have only been minor hiccups. For those concerned about price, before I found ShareMouse I knew I'd willingly pay a similar rate if someone would just make Synergy / Teleport work better. I'm glad there's now an option out there that meets my needs, and am happy to pay that price to get it.

  I started with the freeware. It worked great for a few minutes before it said I need to upgrade to the standard. I figured why not, it's working well. Paid the $20 to connect two computers. Few minutes later I'm getting a message saying I need to pay $50 to get the professional. I have two computers and two monitors. This software is a scam

• Perfect fit for my PC / Mac

  Pros

  - Works as advertised - "it just works" experience, all I did was install it on both and didn't have to do anything else - The drag / drop files from one machine to the other is kinda magical the first time you do it. - The keyboard / mouse and copy/paste from one set of devices on both machines make it a great experience too. Just had to remap some keys for when I jump over to my mac and it was perfect

  Cons

  When you buy a registered copy, it is locked for that specific computer. So if you need to switch computers (e.g. you sell a computer, etc), and forget to deactivate it, you have to email them to reset it. That being said they're very responsive and will reissue a license fast. A recommendation for the author is to have a place users can log in and manage their licenses.

  Summary

  Absolutely awesome, if you have multiple machines and need to use both, this is the app for you.
