  The program simply lost a lot of data that I entered. It just disappeared without a trace and I couldn't retrieved. I'm scared to use it again. Also, when I sent an email to the company asking for support, they never replied.

  The concept is great and just what I was looking for. Keep references and notes together in one system.

  Remote data searches problematic in vista and Win7. Non-existent customer support and tech support.

  Summary

  I had a problem with the remote records searches and contacted tech support no less than 10 times all through 2009 with absolutely NO response. I gave up and decided to use Zotero a free plugin to Firefox that is much better supported and poised for continual updates, oh and did I mention is was free?

  It is a pretty good program for any researcher with rather manageable instability (if one is very cautions). Uses hierarchical and flexible organization and fine referencing system.

  Cons

  Even after you purchase the program, you have to reacquire the key online after every reinstall. When it is your work accumulated over the years this is very disturbing. Also, technical support doesn't respond to your technical questions.

  Summary

  Do NOT buy or rely on this program for long-term commitment. The program misses the main idea "a researcher uses this program to organize his/her notes for a lifetime (ideally)." Even after you officially purchase and own the program, the company is so stingy that you have to re access to them online and reacquire the key so that you can use your own personal item, i.e.: the program. When it is your research notes accumulated over the years this is a very disturbing issue. Also, their technical support is very weak. They refuse to respond to your technical questions. I am desperately looking for another equivalent program. Have already trashed my Master's Thesis notes!!!!

  Comprehensive options in the librabry. Has everything you need to soften the burden of writing a thesis. <p>You can use the keyword-feature to select your own sources.

  There are a lot of sources I don't use that are in the database, but when you delete these records, it works like a charm.

  It's have note manager. You can attach records in the notes module to the source in the library module. So scholar's aid is a kind of combination of Endnote and <p>Notelens.

  I have been running an earlier share-ware version of this program for about four years on Windows XP with Word XP. I have been working on my doctoral dissertation, and the program has been invaluable to me, saving me much time in tedious footnoting. The program works well, and the interface IS user-friendly and intuitive. I have recommended it to other students. It's hard for me to understand all this negative feedback. I have found a few gliches, most of them small, but the worse being that once all my data completely disappeared! However, the program has a backup-restore function, which I have used since then to make sure it wouldn't happen again. (It did, and I was prepared.) Besides that, the program is a little complicated when it comes to making user-changes in reference note formatting. However, I compared this to EndNote and found it to be much better -- simpler in design and easier to use. Whereas Endnote has many more features, for the average student, on a shoestring budget, I highly recommend Scholar's Aid. I plan on purchasing the full program as soon as I can.

  The user interface is one of the worst I have ever seen. For a program created to perform a simple task, the program is unnecessarily complex. I thought that a program supposedly endorsed by Oxford University would have had a more robust content management system for all the "features" touted. Instead we get an awkward program that often fails to live up to the promise of electronic bibliographic tools: efficiency and time saving.
