What's in a name? A lot of hassle if your computer doesn't recognize it. This program helps to clean up unrecognized files in a snap, and what's more, it's free. The program launches as a small desktop application. You're offered three options: one, to tweak general file settings; two, to rename files on a large scale; or three, to rename files one by one. The interface is plain but easy to use; original folders appear on one side of the screen, and change fields appear on the opposite. The process is quick and virtually painless. Overall, a great program for file renaming.

Pros
This saved me hours of renaming files with dashes in them that my external hard drive could not tolerate. I am so glad I gave this a go and really appreciate all the other users feedback on different products that lead me to try this one.

Not for my purposes. It's been a breeze.

Pros
I downloaded it in 1 min, set it up in 2, figured immediately how it works and solved my file-renaming prob in a total of 5 mins! It works perfectly well and it is fast and light. It allows you to rename the file extension as well (exactly what I needed). Saved my day!
Cons
While setting it up, if you do not choose the advanced settings, it will setup toolbars, change your homepage etc - a bit annoying, but yet understandable.
Summary
I would definitely suggest it, although I haven't tried any similar program to compare.

The file that was downloaded was calledL cnet_renameit305-setup_exe.exe The file tried to install: Body Transformation Tracker from www.nalewanyjfitness.com Publisher: SEAN S NALEWANYJ Also changed home page to Foxtabs and added FoxTabs 3d to my browser. No actuall program called Rename it appeared.

I've always liked this little program. Quick and easy to use.
Cons
Only con I have now it that i cannot get it registered. A month and no response from the author. Program doesn't work until you register it, even though he says it is not.
Summary
Maybe they are on an extended vacation, but sure is not a good way to advertise your program. Not much use if you do not respond to registration emails. And the program is crippled until you get a registration number.
I guess I'm an idiot. Easy? No--kinda confusing.
