Like a hand broom sweeping your digital footsteps behind you, Privacy Fence wipes away tracks from your browser, Windows programs, and plug-ins. Your cache, browser history, and AutoComplete data from Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape and Opera--including passwords--are plucked from your computer's memory, never to be seen again. You also can shred files and wash your hard drive of any leftover debris.

The program is not without pitfalls, however. In some instances, the tiny application hung, though it did bounce back. The shredder works well and uses government-standard algorithms files, but the drive washer ran at a snail's pace. We also noticed several typos, ranging from distracting to downright confusing, especially the screen text urging users to click the Erase button to "erase privacy."

Though we would like to see the functionality and typos cleaned up, this 15-day trial is a worthy download for those seeking a comprehensive online privacy tool.
