Pros
None, until the software manufacturer stands behind their product.
Cons
Paid for 35 licenses and can not get the software to load on 3 machines after installation and 4 machines can not see other users upon launch. Of the remainder that work sometimes, users arbitrarily become "unavailable".
Summary
Do not waste you money until they start answering their support emails. We have sent support requests 4 times over a 2 month period and still no answer.
Best IM software for an office environment

Pros
We've used Pop Messenger in our office for nearly nine years. It's a low cost effective solution within our office and via vpn. Actually, the chat gets seldom used, as easy as it is. Files are seldom transferred but also very easy. Customizable.
Cons
Can't operate vpn to vpn - or have never figured out how. Would like to see a quick and easy spell check. How about optional interfaces?
Summary
Pop Messenger is a great little IM program for our office environment of about 25 to 30 work stations. Over the years, it has come to be an essential aspect of our means of communicating with one another. Setting it up is simple, probably requiring about five minutes for each pc/ work station. Setting up a group so you can send a message to specific persons with a single click is easy. Customizing the fonts and color backgrounds is simple as well. The product hasn't changed over the years much, mostly due to the fact it is easy, straight-forward and fits the bill so well. THis is no-nonsense solution - not very sexy but certainly makes it easy to be up and running and stay that way with almost no complications ever.
