Load points of interest to a Garmin device from the internet or create your own.
POI Loader for Windows allows you to load custom points of interest into your unit. The input files can be downloaded from the internet or you can create your own. With POI Loader for Windows, you can configure the unit to alert you when you are within a certain distance of a point or if you are driving over a certain speed near a point; perfect to warn you about upcoming schools zones and redlight and speed cameras. The unit will also allow you to search for and navigate to the loaded points of interest.
Makes the Garmin even more of a day to day tool for getting places and finding local places.
Cons
No subscription to updates. Required regular visits to POI sites to keep content current.

Summary
No Documentation
Pros
Its intended function to load POIs.
Cons
Lacking documentation esp of file format, how is one to use it? Basically non-functional without much trial & error.
Summary
May serve a very useful purpose, but Garmin has devoted almost no resources to documenting its software. That means relying on phone conversations with their tech support. Life is rather short...

Summary
Valuable program - POI Loader
sfolden
Pros
Keeps Point of Interests up to date
Cons
Loader could not find Garmin GPS when it is connected and turned on. Also asks for location of download after it has been downloaded without telling user where update was downloaded to, when what it really wanted destination location on device.
Summary
POI serves good purpose, so it is valuable, but as stated in the Cons section of this review it can be cleaned up as far as its finding of connected device and finding destination location for download on device instead of asking for downloaded location. Sorry if that sounds confusing. POI should be capable of finding the proper destination on the Garmin device without customer telling it, after figuring out that is what POI wanted rather than where on the computer it had downloaded the files.
Needs work.
