Plogue AlterEgo is a free Windows synthesizer that focuses on vocal creation. If you want to make interesting vocal sounds from your MIDI keyboard, this is worth a look. It's surprisingly easy to get started.

Top Recommended Alternative

  • Pros

    • Free to use, which is a major plus | User-friendly interface; you can dive right in | MIDI keyboard input makes performance intuitive | Sound modification options are surprisingly deep

  • Cons

    • Singing synthesis can sound dated (think 90s) | Windows only, sorry Mac and Linux users | Some deeper sound tweaks are not very intuitive | Don't expect realistic vocals; it's very obviously a synth
