PDF Index Assistant catalogs PDF files on your PC, though it can be used to index other file types, as well. Neat in appearance, the program provides a step-by-step wizard to guide users through the process of indexing files on their drives. It also offers a handy set of tools to quickly find any file on your PC. The indexing process takes quite a while, and during testing it caused our system to slow down. However, you can speed up indexing by having the utility draw only from specific locations. Once files are indexed, PDF Index Assistant quickly returns results. This program uses keywords, file masks, or date or size parameters to further reduce search times and deliver accurate results. We're pleased you can scan archives, preview documents, save search results, and generate HTML or RTF reports. The quoting feature accurately highlights keywords within reports. It's also nice that files can be quickly launched directly from reports. Overall, we recommend this program to any home or office user wanting to enhance his or her file-searching tasks.
