Compare, verify and optionally delete matching files.
MrVerify is a file utility that compares files and directories. Use MrVerify to confirm files have been copied successfully. If you have duplicate files and you want to make sure they are exact copies before you delete them this program is for you. Files are compared byte by byte regardless of file type. Single files with different names can be compared. Multiple files with matching names are compared in folders, sub-folders and even whole drives. Files can be verified from CD's, DVDs, local drives, portable drives, flash (thumb) drives and network drives. Optionally matching files can be deleted from the source folder or the target folder.
Loads and runs quickly enough; easy to understand. Mostly works as expected. Unknown: Is file-caching suppressed, so tests are made of the files as recorded?
Unknown: Undue file-size limits?
Unknown: Undue limits on file-full-path length?
Unknown: Undue file-count limits?
Cons
1. It seems that Unicode support is poor or absent. Testing under Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit) using the NTFS, I rudely discovered MrVerify erred when reporting on files whose names used Cyrillic characters.
2. Users should have the option of restricting the file-by-file reporting to mishaps only, and also copying such reporting to the Windows Clipboard.
