Destroy and irreversibly delete any trace of old data on your hard drive.
Morgud's Erasure Suite (MES) is a collection of utility programs designed to completely and irreversibly destroy, eliminate, and shred any trace of previous data on your hard drive. MES provides four methods of deletion: U.S. Department of Defense compliant Secure Erase (DoD 5220.22-M), U.S. Department of Defense full (DoD 5200.28-STD), Peter Gutmann method, and a quick, less secure, single-pass. If you intend to wipe your hard drive before selling or donating it, you should definitely erase your hard drive with MES (rather than simply using the Format command in MS Dos). This program will create a bootable floppy - no installation is necessary.
Easy removal of all personal and OS files on my drive.

Pros
Finally! Thank you. Works great. Couldn?t get any other programs to boot from DOS on my old IBM computer. Bought software that worked fine on other computers, but wouldn?t work on this IBM because it wouldn?t read from the CD drive for some reason when booted from the floppy. So after a day and a half of trying five other free disk wipers, and dealing with some tech support idiot, from the software I?d paid for, who didn?t seem to know anything about computers, I found Morgud's Erasure Suite. I downloaded it, made the boot disk and had it up and running in just a few minutes.

Terrible Software

Pros
Nothing... unusable
Cons
First, you need to have a floppy drive in your system and create a boot floppy. After you go through all this trouble, then reboot your machine and the software runs, you are immediately presented with a menu asking you how you want to delete your hard disk. Unfortunately, it doesn't ask you which hard disk you want to delete, nor does it identify what hard disk it is going to delete. If you have more than one hard disk in your system (like me), you'd have to be pretty brave to choose a deletion method before choosing the hard disk. I don't know if it lets you choose the hard disk after you choose your deletion method (I didn't have the guts to try) but even if it does, this is incredibly poor user interface design. What user in their right mind would select a deletion method before selecting the hard drive he wants to delete?

Didn't Work For Me

Pros
None.
Cons
1. DOS-based. Can't use your computer for anything else while it's running. Operates from a boot floppy, so you need a floppy drive (or else the ability to burn/copy to a bootable CD).

2. After going through the foregoing steps, it did not actually get to the place of working. It seemed to identify my disks, and then stopped without further options.

Pros
I had this program a long time ago, and lost it. I am glad to find it. This has to be one of the best tools to have in your toolbox, for anyone who uses multiple drives and or repairs equipment for others.

It "resets" the drive back to factory condition... completely blank including the boot sector.

If you can't reinstall your operating system this is the program to use. Option 1 once then option 3 once.
Cons
It is set up to put on floppy disk. The newer computers are being mass-produced with out floppy drives.

But you can put these files onto a CD and it will work the same.
Summary
Effective!

Pros
Pretty well documented options lists in the readme files. Does a great job of wiping out old data.
Cons
I couldn't find any other options when I ran the program that would let me create a bootable CD. Program requires that you have a 3 1/2" floppy drive. Would be better if it would simply write the required files to a folder so you could burn it to a CD.
Summary
easy to use, completely clean

Pros
completely removed all Norton Goback files (and everything else) that formating and Fdisk were unable to remove.

Very easy to use.
Cons
You do need to use fdisk and partition your hdd afterwards and then format, so a little knowledge is absolutely usefull.
