Copy and delete files with long paths and filenames that Windows can't.

CanCopy copies and deletes files on your computer that Windows can't. If you have received the message: "The filename you specified is invalid or too long. Specify a different filename"--this software is for you. Windows will cancel the process at the point of the problem, leaving you wondering what was copied, and what was not. This issue is caused by Windows (98, 2000, XP & Vista) not allowing file paths of more that 231 characters. It's a time consuming problem for us to fix, if indeed, we can fix it at all. CanCopy solves this problem and allows files with long paths to be copied. And unlike Windows, CanCopy won't quit a batch copy or delete over 1 bad file. If there is a problem, CanCopy will keep a log of the file so you know what did not happen.

None with the program itself, but after emailing the company i did get a refund (guess the refund is the only pro).
Cons
Well Everything: Nothing worked.... it just looked 'frozen' & never copied a single file. i think the program should at least have provided some sort of status to the user as to whats going on - is it copying? or idle? or searching?
Summary
I was planning to use the program to help me deal with some engineering software that sometimes generates really long path and file names. Tried version 2.1 to no avail, luckily the company gave me a refund, which I am grateful. I really still am looking for a good solution to my issue, and tried updating my Java engine to no avail (according to 'process explorer' the program wasn't doing anything). Perhaps there was some problem on my PC causing the issue - but a program is a program and it just didn't work 4 me - on top of that there was no feedback/status indicators in the gui that made it very frustrating. I was using ver 2.1 with win xp pro sp3 & jre 6.18 - i might try this sw app in the future but think it still needs a bit of work.

This works - allows me to copy, move and delete files that had been a really headache!
Cons
Delete function really deletes the file! It does not get moved to the recycle bin, however there is a warning dialogue advsing you of this.
Summary
I have had real problems dealing with files of over 251 characters when using Windows XP and Windows 7. This software allows me to copy, move and delete files that had previously been a real pain. The trial only allows you to copy files of 100k - but full license in only $14 :-)
Solved my copy problem with easy solution :)

Does exactly what I need it to do - I have been having consistent problems with files over 231 characters - copy the file to a new location with a shorter file path, and delete the offending article!

The trial version scanned my directories and files, but didn't copy anything.

Pros
This piece of software is fantastic. It does what the Microsoft OS, shoud have done in the first place - allows you to copy long path names. Have you ever tried to copy a directory to another hard disk and the copy process stopped right in the middle, after 1-2 hours of copying, and you have no idea where the copy process was interrupted. This piece of software is addressing this issue. I love it !
