LockHunter is a free tool to delete files blocked by applications. LockHunter is useful for fighting against malware, and other programs that are blocking files without a reason. Unlike other similar tools it deletes files into the Recycle Bin so you may restore them if deleted by mistake.

LockHunter detects and displays the processes locking files or folders. It allows users to unlock, delete, copy, or rename locked files. It allows users to kill locking process and remove locking processes from their hard drives. LockHunter also integrates into the Windows Explorer menu.

Pros
I had a wav file that I couldn't delete. I tried EVERYTHING. Maybe 20 or 30 different methods. Even cmd didn't show the file. Finally I found this tool and it deleted the file in 3 seconds. I would have STARTED here if I knew better. Anyone who has a file they can't erase start here.
Cons
There are not enough glowing reviews around the web so that I could have started with this first and not wasted days and hours trying to figure out my problem. Every one who owns a computer should have Lockhunter.

It does all that they say. It can show us all programs wich block a file or folder and can freeing it. Very useful for removible hard disk ad unblock them. Contex menu item for access directly to the program from any.. file or folder

Summary
I use several passport 1T and 2T drives and would often get the error message that the drive was still in use when I've already closed all programs and wanted to remove the drives. I've tried other products to solve the problems in ejecting USB drives but this worked best for me.

* Installation quick and painless * It's free * It doesn't appear to have any unwanted malware or pop-up's (so long as you do the "Advanced User" and override their coupon toolbar they try to install) * It quickly finds what processes are locking files or folders and gives some very helpful, intuitive options of what to do, including deleting the files, or what I wanted, which was to unlock the file by closing associated processes

* Not sure whether or not to call it a "con," but when I told it to end a system process, it wouldn't do it because of that, so I had to go do it manually. But hey, at least it told me which confounded process was locking the folder so I could actually do that, after which I went and moved the folder as I was trying unsuccessfully to do until I downloaded this software

Bottom line, if like me you get really frustrated when trying to move or delete a file or folder because Windows says it's in use, but you have no open programs and can't figure which cotton-pickin' process is locking it up, then get this little gem and the Heavens will open up and angels will sing!

I had tried using some of the other unlocking programs like "Unlocker" and they were not running. This one worked as soon as I installed it.
