From the developer: "FTP client - Not in your directories, but very good product! LeechFTP has a feature to check for updates from within the program, you can access this in the Tools menu. A small dialog will show up and tells you wether there is a newer version or not. This is done by connecting to this server, so you have to be connected to the internet."
was not connecting to the remote server. tried aceFTP and had no issues doing the same.
Summary
Does what it should, easy to use
theQuicker1
Pros
Comfortable user interface
easy to understand
works well and fast
not a ton of extra features with cluttering buttons
Cons
no quick links to bookmarks (but I don't know any ftp program that has this)
Summary
I use this program to manage websites.
Love this app. Been using it for years.
traceyhoranoff
Pros
It works, it's reliable, and it's free.
Cons
None that I have found.
Summary
Download it, and use it!
Great piece of software
rbuch66
Pros
Easy to use, multi-threading, resume broken downloads (hence leech), setup installation not required, fast, works with Win 7, PassV mode, NOOP, bookmarks
Cons
Out of date, too bad that Jan? is still not around to update this software because I've been relying on for years, but still works great with Win 7. It probably isn't as secure as some of the newer SFTP clients, but who cares...
Summary
LeechFTP is highly recommended for beginning to advanced users. It still works with Windows 7 and it's still as fast (no comparison to browser FTP). It's a no-brainer for those who intermittently need an FTP client to download files.
Free & Easy to Use
HaoleBoyz
Pros
- 100% free with no hidden or harmful content
- Very easy to use for pretty much anyone
- No ads or popups
- Small in size
Cons
I honestly have not found any cons other then possibly the bogus error message you get when you first run it, but it doesn't affect its performance.
Summary
I have been using Leech FTP for over 8 years now & I love it. It works great with Windows 98, 98 SE, ME, 2000, XP, 7, and even pretty well under WINE on Ubuntu Linux. Its my #1 choice when ever I need a good reliable ftp client to get my files uploaded or downloaded. Its simple as someone else said & even while its out of date its still #1 for me & all I will use.
It's ok, but not that great
djmith
Pros
Small and lite
Cons
Not the best UI
Summary
I'm going to try another FTP client. While this works it's not what I am looking for
great tool, a pity the autor stopped maintaining it
hallvors
Pros
This was the first FTP client I tried with a multi-threaded upload approach, which means you can start uploading lots of files to your website and *while* it's working you can keep browsing folders and work. No waiting for uploads to finish.
Cons
There is an off-by-one bug somewhere: when working with *some* servers it will remove the first character from downloaded (HTML) files. This bug obviously sucks badly..
Summary
It's such a shame that the author abandoned this lovely little piece of software. If only he had open-sourced it..
I've not looked for another FTP program for many years. With a few bug fixes and some additional polish I could have kept using it.. :-( Now, due to the mentioned off-by-one bug I need to find something else..
Best FTP software ever
Mehendra
Pros
Threads make uploading so much more faster.
Lot more reliable than uploading through windows explorer.
Cons
Wish that it had a link in right click menu to refresh. Not a big deal as you can hit F5 and do the same.
Summary
Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaast!

Pros
Its a really fast, lightweight, full featured ftp client! I like it :)
Cons
I've not seen anything :)
