Using FTP can be complicated and confusing. FTP Voyager cleans up the mess with its blend of performance and ease of use, dressed in a familiar Windows Explorer-style interface and loaded with features. On the feature front, FTP Voyager supports Secure Shell (SSH) access, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connections, and folder synchronization. A handy scheduler lets you automate transfers, and there's a list of pre-installed FTP sites to log on to, ranging from tech support and government agencies to news and sports sites.

The interface is fully customizable, with a grab bag of options. The most notable tweak is Simple Mode, which limits the number of visible features and swaps out the small, cramped toolbars with one larger, more universal one. The View menu lets you toggle between Simple Mode and FTP Voyager's normal interface. Overall, FTP Voyager is a well-balanced FTP client that offers excellent features for professional users while maintaining ease of use for novices.

What’s new in version 16.1

Version 16.1 corrected a bug introduced in version 16.0.1.0 where FTP Voyager was unable to login to certain SSH servers using keyboard-interactive authentication as a substitue for password authentication.

Do yourself a favour, get an old version.

If you get version 15 then you'll get a fast, intuitive, well designed FTP client that's feature filled and with a UI that's a pleasure to work with. If you get this version (16) you get a mediocre piece of software that does the job, but in a "that'll do" fashion rather than really feeling like it's enjoyable.

* Clunky * Unintuitive design * Slow, each time I wanted to sync a folder it had to re-read the entire site, when version 15 used a cache to speed things up. * Had to keep inputting my password despite clicking to remember it. * Did I mention slow and clunky?
Summary
I admit, the fact that the previous version was great despite it's age (I first purchased it almost a decade ago) was in danger of colouring my judgement, so I tried to clear my mind, start afresh and came to a simple conclusion. If this was what I'd been offered at first when I went with FTP Voyager (when they were Rhinosoft) I wouldn't have used it, I would have gone elsewhere. If you download this you will get a usable FTP client, but it's frustrations may soon overwhelm you. If you can deal with them you'll find it does what it says on the tin, you will be able to do FTP actions and keep a website updated. In car terms it'll get you from A to B but you won't enjoy the ride. How a company have taken something so good and made it so bad is bizarre, it's like they looked at the Windows 7 to 8 debacle and thought... hey, we can mess things up way worse than that. Just goes to show, you get what you pay for, and in making this software totally free, they've made sure to ruin it as well, just to match.

The new user interface is terrible and it took too many clicks to get the local folders to appear. And then on the remote folders, the "view" option no longer appears when you right-click. This function is critical to my use of an FTP client. I've been using Voyager for as long as I can remember and the new version has me unable to do my work without more than a dozen extra mouse-clicks per process.
Summary
I will not purchase v16 and will uninstall it immediately. It is the Windows Vista of FTP Voyager, IMO...a major failure.

The product works, when it works. Just don't upgrade it over the weekend when you really need it to work.
Cons
Lousy customer service. When they say they won't give your money back they really mean it. Even when its their software that fails and you wind up with a license you can't use. And even for a long time customer. I'm no longer a loyal customer.

Needs a 'screen capture' function and a batch file processing option for re-sizing.

I've used many FTP clients and FTP Voyager is my favorite by far. It provides feedback with the FTP command window and "In Progress" window that I find valuable.
