This application proves you don't need to add features to trump the competition. Journal Macro doesn't do anything its competitors don't, but its well-designed interface and solid help file distinguish it from the common herd. Similar to its competitors, Journal Macro automates basic tasks such as typing, moving the cursor, handling windows, launching a program, or opening a Web page (though it can't dial a modem or download a file). However, unlike most, Journal Macro has an application window that's powerful and compact, if a tad cryptic. Luckily, the program comes with five tutorial macros that make everything clear. Users can activate shortcuts through program-specific hot keys, text aliases, and scripts. The program doesn't support conditional scripting, however. Journal Macro won t satisfy the most demanding users, but it provides everything most people need to automate their workflow.

This application has gone downhill fast.
kawhostayucwyJanuary 28, 2013
Pros
This used to give users access to create some really sophisticated macros. I used it for over ten years at work to speed up my productivity.
Cons
The application no longer works on newer operating systems. When I try to launch it in Windows 7 I get an error that says my operating systme is "too old." When I try to request assistance from the developer, I get nothing but database errors from their help pages and there doesn't appear to be any other way to contact them.
Summary
I don't know if this company is even still running. Journal Macro hasn't had an update in many years and there seems to be no support or method of contact.
Not a lot of flexibility

Pros
Clean looking console, looks easy and straight forward to use.
Cons
This product will EITHER let you create "Script Based Macro" or Record your keystrokes. All the other products I have reviewed, let the user start with a keystroke recorder, then switch to an editor to perform the final tweaks. This production lacks that functionality. <p>I have a desktop application that progresses from a summary form to a detail form. The application stops working after the opening of the detail form(in Keystroke Record Mode).<p>I think some of the competitors have a more reliable and flexible product.
Summary
Great program, very powerful!

Pros
LOTS of control. You can control the way it is played back. You can even edit a macro after it is recorded. Very nice
Cons
Not much.
Summary
Seems to be the best macro program for a small-medium business

Summary
Very flexible in the way the macros are recorded and run. Much better than "tasker". Does basically everything I want it to do. I will be organising the purchase of this program for the company I work for.
