Editors' Review
IrfanView is a handy tool that can open lots of different types of files. This includes pictures in many formats like JPEG and PNG, but it can also play videos, music, and show text files. People like it because it’s simple to use and really quick.
You can use it on pretty much any Windows computer, and if you have an older computer or you're not using Windows, you can still make IrfanView work with a bit of extra effort. It’s really good at opening all kinds of files, even the ones that other programs might not be able to handle.
When you open IrfanView, you'll see it’s pretty straightforward. It’s made to help you get to your files fast. IrfanView is really good at showing pictures and playing media files without slowing down. It supports a bunch of different file types, so you can pretty much open anything with it.
If you want to fix up your photos, you can do that too. Cropping, resizing, and tweaking the colors are all easy to do. And if you’ve got a lot of photos to work on at once, IrfanView can handle them in batches, saving you a lot of time.
One of the best things about IrfanView is its plugins. These are little extra pieces you can add on to make IrfanView do even more. If there’s something special you need to do with your files, there’s probably a plugin that can help.
Bottom Line
View and edit most graphics formats simply and quickly. IrfanView handles many different file types, including many image formats (like JPEG, PNG, GIF, and more), videos, audio, and even text files. Known for being simple to navigate and quick. It works with all recent Windows versions, from Windows XP to Windows 11. You can also use it on older Windows computers or, with some extra software (Wine and WineBottler), on Linux and Mac. It’s especially good for looking at many different kinds of image files, even ones that other software might not open.
