Editors’ Review

Download.com staff

GetVideo is a free Firefox add-on that is supposed to allow you to directly download videos from YouTube. It sounds great in theory, but in practice it just doesn't work.

A small icon was placed on our status bar, but it remained inactive during our tests. We visited YouTube to view videos, but when we clicked on the GetVideo icon, we continually got a message stating that no videos were available. There's no help menu, so we weren't able to get any assistance from the publisher. That didn't exactly leave the best impression.

It's basically just an icon taking up space on your toolbar, but giving nothing in return. If you want your YouTube videos, this freebie isn't the way to go.

Developer’s Description

Search and download videos from Google and YouTube.

Download videos from YouTube and Google directly. Unlike VideoDownloader it does not use a proxy page, and unlike Unplug it does not create a layer over the current page.
