  NONE! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! HOW IS IT POSSIBLE TO MAKE SUCH AN INSTABLE SYSTEM AND SELL THIS ON THE MARKET!

  IT DESTROYED ALL MY WORK. RECOVER DID NOT WORK DUE TO A CORRUPT 'INDEX FILE'.... 20 years of documents I've gathered during my work are gone!!!! WELL DONE GENIE! NEVER BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!

Got a new PC now and try to restore all my files from the Genie backup stored on the NAS. So i select 'restore from previous backup', i select the timeline directory and nothing happens. It does NOTHING. I lost all my files!!! 200 GB of 20 years of work and career. LOST! Please help me! • Version 2013 is not stable enough

  Pros

  I did not found something very special in the new version, but maybe because I do not use all the functions. I know they added a lot of new things.

  Cons

  Not crazy about the new design and most importantly the system is not stable and stopped to back up and did not respond. Because of this I discovered quite by accident that I have not backed new files, a bit dangerous, no?

• Constant drive full errors 100% cpu usage

  Pros

  Simple enough to use.

  Cons

  Constantly erroneously says my 2tb drive is full, and the service takes off using 100% cpu. You need to kill the service in task manager since it won't stop using the services panel. I'm never sure if my backups are valid.

  Easy, but not reliable.

  Pros

  I love the interface. The tiles give it a Windows 8 look which is really appealing and clean. Send me emails when there is a problem with my backup. Nice simple and basic reporting in the desktop software. Backups as often as every 30 minutes (Home trial version). Back ups my NAS to another external HD which I have strictly for backups. I could go on and on but after using virtually all of the free trials of backup and sync software I could find, this one just does it's thing without me having to second guess it or give it added attention. I LOVE IT.

  Cons

  I wish back up could be continual, much like Carbonite cloud based back up but every 30 minutes is good.

  Summary

  Excellent back up software if you want to set it up easily and then leave it alone. I wouldn't waste your time looking at any other free ones. Pay the money and buy this one. It's a bargain for how it works.

• Good product and concept

  Pros

  The Genie timeline can do quicker backup, easy to understand. Support for Windows 8, Block level backup like rsync, automatically and intelligently manage retention category. Basically Genie timeline is backup software for dummies.

  Cons

  The software is too buggy and often crash, very unprofessional Dashboard design since Facebook and twitter icon shouldn't be there (but significant check update button missing), No Genie Mobile App for Android mobiles. No frequent software update.

  Summary

  Recently I have got Genie timeline Pro 2012 to replace Acronis Backup &#38; Recovery 11 Workstation (the Acronis backup software is a total piece of scrap and a nightmare). I was happy after trying the Trial version of Genie timeline Pro 2012. The backup was always acceptable with Windows 7 Pro x64 bit, now I have upgraded to Windows 8 Pro and Genie timeline works fine with the new version of Windows. I hope Genie programmer team should concentrate on patching and updating as frequent as possible to fix the bugs.

• Update on Genie Timeline Pro 2012

  Pros

  I (and many others) were highly critical of the first version of Timely Pro 2012. It was full of bugs and was definitely not ready for prime time. Genie later released an updated version to address the bugs in the first version. The updated version does work much better - performing mostly as advertised.

  Cons

  My updated version worked fine for about a week, but then some of the same bugs found in the first version started to reappear. In particular I had the same problem noted by many other reviewers. When making more than very basic adjustment, Timeline often froze up. Whatever screen I was working on turned white. At the very least, I had to close and restart Timeline. Sometimes I had to close Timeline and reboot my computer.

  Summary

  Timeline 2012 is still not ready for prime time. I cannot recommend it to others. But I have not given up on Genie. The new Genie Backup Manager 9.0 is EXCELLENT. It requires a little more setup than Timeline, but once it is set up as desired, it works flawlessly. Highly recommended.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Jun 24, 2012<p/>OOPS! • Good concept, but the software misses it's target goals

  Pros

  It DOES perform a timeline backup. Backup DOES work without much disturbance. It's concept allows for simplicity and user friendliness. Genie provides good end-user support. Nice user interface.

  Cons

  It is a very dangerous tool. It does not a good job, due to the following reasons: - When you have multiple users on the same PC, it will only perform a backup of the files of the user the backup is installed for. - Intelligent backup is dangerous. It will only backup the files with the extensions you request. The list of extensions is not complete. - As a result, it consumes your backup drive space with files you don't want. Intelligent backup works for ALL your connected drives, even the xTB drives which you don't want to have included. - There is an 'exclude from backup' function in the tool, but it is hidden, not user friendly. - Recover sometimes fails for a number of files without reason. The tool crashes when recovering, and you have to restart. - The "system recovery" option does not do a good job, and it is VERY SLOW. - Files are spread out over the backup library between the "intelligent backup", and the "selective backup". Confusing

  Summary

  I am a registered user for 2 years, and have purchased 3 licenses. I would advise to consider very well the cons when doing a backup.

• DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME

  Pros

  The interface is pretty, easy to use and makes you FEEL good.

  Cons

  You think your data is being backed-up but in reality it likely is likely not.

  Summary

  I'm not a technical expert but when I back up my drives (in my case mirror drives with no compression) I expect the destination drive to utilize the same file space as the primary drive. I have multiple drives both internal and external. In EVERY case while using Genie Timeline Pro my back-up file size did not match up originating file size. At that, it was not always the same percentage mismatch. BOTTOM LINE: I did not trust this software. When it comes to protecting data, TRUST IS EVERYTHING. I promptly removed it from my system. I found Super Flexible File Synchronizer to be a far superior product...which I ended up purchasing.

  None. Worse than earlier versions.

  Cons

  Same problems as cited by other reviewers. Freezes, some features do not work, etc.

  Summary

  Timeline 2012 is a waste of money. Earlier versions worked fine.

  Slows boot by 2 mins. Computer is not responsive. Firefox start-up takes forever
