Windows-based computers come with an almost dizzying number of options, from Internet Explorer to Notepad and everything in between. Trying to manage all these functions may be a lot easier for users with Fresh UI.

This free download gives users an unprecedented look and incredible control over their system. The Fresh UI display is that of an expandable file tree, giving a general look at all programs that can be tinkered with. This overview is what really makes this program special. By erasing the countless minutes that could be spent opening each individual program and learning how to make alterations in the program, Fresh UI saves users hours of time over the life of their computer.

For example, we tested Fresh UI and looked at our Notepad options. Where we would normally have to open the program and then search through the menus to find various options, Fresh UI laid all the variables out in a simple display and allowed us a quick way to automatically wrap text, alter the fonts, and more. From there we could go to Outlook Express, Windows Media Player, and other programs with a few simple clicks.

While Fresh UI offers a unique program, it is also bogged down by its poor Help file, and novice users might have more questions than it can answer. However, more experienced users will find this download to be a helpful tool for customizing Windows.

Pros
Looking over all the tweaks, it would seem to be a good program, as long as you don't go overboard. Plenty of options, make sure you read what you're changing...
Cons
Upon opening, it gave me a message that it couldn't find the system.ini file. I know I have one, I went to it's location to make sure. :-)
Summary
Understanding that the system.ini file is not a major file in the Windows 7 operating system (since everything has moved to the registry) how effective is this program, even if it can find and edit the system.ini file?
Free, but not worth even that.

Free, installs quickly, uninstalls just as fast.
Cons
Far too many options that could do serious damage if you don't know what you are doing. Poor documentation for all of the options and what they do. Poorly designed application that does not disable or hide the "tweaks" for other versions of Windows than what it is running on.
Summary
If you know what you are doing with Windows, this program is not an efficient way to change settings. If you don't know what you are doing, you could really damage your system with this application and you are better off with other utilities. This one is crap. Keep looking.

Many features, though badly implemented. The application claims to shut off options not related to the OS that your PC operates under, but in fact does not such thing.

With some of the options and you may find yourself in deep trouble. I wanted to eliminate the Win 7 warning, about an unknown applicatin I chose Security, Applications to Allow. I found I could only use one app. Not even FreshUI would open to undo
Summary
FreshUI is carelessly implemented and its support is abysmal. All one gets is a proforma response with some FAQs, none related to one's urgent appeal for help. I've since removed it and all FreshDevice products from my PC. (I'm not going to bore you with how I got back control of my computer, but it took me 4 1/2 hours.

I downloaded it for an old Windows 98 computer. Most programs don't work on Windows 98. I discovered it could do things for an old Windows XP laptop that the installed programs couldn't do.

Immediately after installing, WinXP Pro Explorer would no longer show Details as default - only Icons view. None of my desktop shortcuts to access folders would work. Sent 3 messages requesting help, received no responses -- just more ads.

A piece of junk. I don't know why anyone would use this program. The damage to my Windows Explorer can NOT be fixed without reinstalling Windows and losing days of work while I reinstall all the programs on my machine! "Support" via the developer's web site or email is non-existent. After weeks of waiting for a response to 3 requests for help, I've received no response. After tinkering with the Registry based on recommendations from Microsoft support site, I was able to recover the ability to show Details, but have to continually change the View. It will NOT permit me to save that status permanently for any folder. Badly flawed program with no support. Considering their unwillingness to respond to requests for help, I strongly recommend that you avoid anything from this company.

a little hard to figure out for new users, lack of simplyfied insructions. could be improved to be more user friendly and god! the spanish translation is awful. I could give you guys a hand with that.
