Compare Folders:FolderMatch is a program that compares two folders, displaying the differences in a side-by-side layout. You can quickly compare entire drives and folders, checking just file sizes and modified dates. Or, you can thoroughly compare every file byte-by-byte. You can filter the results to view only the differences or the matches. Or you can further filter the results by name, type, size, and modified date to see only the files you're interested in.Files and subfolders may be copied/moved/deleted/renamed, and their timestamps changed.

Compare Files: FolderMatch can also compare files by their text content, showing the difference in a side-by-side layout. It can perform text content comparisons on text files and other document formats such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint), OpenDocument files, Adobe PDF, Rich Text Format (RTF), HTML and XML files. It supports both the older and newer X versions of these formats.The program provides options so you see only the differences that matter to you. Ignore white space and letter case differences when comparing the text. View all lines or only those that are different. View differences at the character, word, or line-level.You can also configure the output to show line numbers and formatting characters such as whitespace, tabs, and end-of-line characters.

Find Duplicates: Boasting one of the fastest search engines available, FolderMatch can quickly locate all your duplicate files. Even if the file names are different, the program can quickly find the duplicates and help you remove them.You can specify criteria for what constitutes a duplicate file (same name, size, date, and/or content), what type of files to search for (all file types, application, audio, document, image, text, video), and what files to include or exclude.Quickly select the files to remove and safely remove them in one of several ways. You can easily recover files you've moved if needed.

Trust but verify - great tool to verify port to new NAS

Pros
Simple, does what it says it does. Easy interface, it offers to run tutorial after 1st load.
Cons
Still looking for way to filter or sort out just folders in list with certain characteristic (i.e. different, orphaned, the same, etc.)
Summary
Carefully moved 1.5 TB from one NAS to a new one using the NAS built-in porting software. This filematch gave peace of mind seeing all green checks. Played with some more, and was able to confirm 100% match between original folders and some extra backup folders that had been created over the years. Saved about 100GB ditching duplicates over the years. Will see if they sell a duplicate finder. If so, will get that too.
Love at first use!!! It's sooo very good!!!

Does EXACTLY what it is supposed to do, WOW, how novel! It is extremely fast (Dell L702X, W7x64 Intel I5), very intuitive and downright FUN to use 'cause I've been putting off cleaning up all my stuff (2 int & 4 ext HDD's, thumb drives, etc) for way, way too long. To quote ATCbuff: "Product is flawless. Works great on Win 7 64 ultimate. The best of the best though is their customer service! Quick and accurate responses everytime. These guys are one of the last..." Here! Here! I could not agree more...

Cons? Oh yes indeed... Why oh why don't all companies, software/hardware, computer/non-computer simply do the right thing, do what I expect - tell the truth about their product, deal with customers fairly, openly, honestly? (And yes, I'm very much aware that I'm expecting too much in this day and age. Been told many times that I over expect, not pragmatic, realistic, etc.)
Summary
If you need to clean up multiple, random copies of "stuff" (tech term) look no further - this is nirvana! Even got it for $25 because I ordered during the first week of the trial period - cheap at many times the price. and yes i'm very excited about something so simple and straight forward that makes my life sooo much easer... and no I am not affiliated with the company in any way, have no idea who/where they're located. I had a couple of questions about updates, etc. and my email was answered fully, within hours and with humor! Imagine that!!! Thanks Salty Brine and Dee Sharpe. Ya'll got some great karma goin'...

I did not run 3.5.5, as it will not validate with my paid 3.4.8 purchase. 3.4.8 runs good enough to not pay again. TechTracker does NOT tell you if you have a free upgrade, only says free to try... even if you already paid for a previous version.

I really like 3.4.8. Works great!

If you want to quickly and easily compare your folders and drives, and compare files, I can't imagine anyone developing a simpler, more effective solution than FolderMatch. It is totally worth every cent.

Pros
I always start backing up tidily, but eventually end up with multiple copies scattered across computers and standalone hard drives. FolderMatch helps me get organised again!

Unfortunately it tried to install Frontpage (for which I don't have the disk) and then wouldn't cancel. I had to kill the application. I tried again and the second time it ran and then tried to install Frontpage again as soon as I hit "compare"
