Exhibition 2050. A Brief History of the FutureThe Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium and the Louvre Museum come together to present an ambitious and innovative project inspired by Jacques Attalis essay A Brief History of the Future. The two independent yet complementary exhibitions are articulated around the same questioning. By interrogating the future at the Louvre by an observation of the past, in Brussels through a prospective approach - they analyse the great dynamics that cross and animate societies, from their origins up to the horizon of 2050.Paintings, sculptures, photos, videos, installations and digital art: over 70 contemporary works question our future up to 2050. The exhibition addresses major societal themes such as overconsumption, global conflicts, scarcity of natural resources, social and economic inequality, the mutation of the human being. However, these complex topics are challenged by positive and constructive visions, sometimes even humour. Belgian and international artists such as Sugimoto, Boetti, Kingelez, Warhol, Rovner, Gursky, Op de Beeck, Hatoum, Turk, Als, invite us to (re)think the future.Download the app and discover 2050.
