• Great for CD, though not intuitive, not useful for DVD

  Worked beautifully for creating a virtual drive from which I could install my CD iso file

  Cons

  Controls not intuitive. No DVD capability (or else I couldn't find it). Readme file poorly written by non-English speaker and lacks instructions. Short-cut keys (ctrl+1, ctrl+2, etc) under Tools do not work.

  The file downloaded and installed quickly. Although it took me "only" 5 minutes to figure out how to create a drive to run the iso file on my hard disk, I imagine that many people would give up before they figured it out. There are a lot of buttons and check boxes, and they don't connect very logically. I also have a DVD iso I am trying to run as a drive and install (to avoid burning a DVD unnecessarily), but it appears that this program does not create DVD drives. I have previously created a virtual DVD drive with that exact same ISO with another program (can't remember which). To turn an iso on your hard drive into a CD ROM drive from which you can install programs, first click on the "File to Drive" button on the left (short-cut key ctrl+3 does not seem to work). 2nd, click to select a letter for your virtual drive under "Available: Drive". 3rd, click the "New Drive" button (or press Alt+N) to open up the "Create Virtual Drive" dialog box. 4th, select "Mount virtual drive from existing container" by left-clicking on the white circle at left (it should turn green now). 5th, left-click on the "..." button to browse for your ISO file. Find it and click open. The file path should now appear in the "Filename" field. 6th, click the "Next>>" button at the bottom right. Now the virtual drive should have been created and you can find it in Windows Explorer and run it, or browse it and find the autorun icon and double-click it to run your virtual CD.

  Pros

  It was a program that I was looking for. Because it make like a drive any folder of the OS. And that is useful for my and my organization.

  Unfortunately, the reviews from some users (here in C|Net) are true. When the trial finished, I had to uninstall it, and the troubles started. <p> <p>I really hated my PC, because I never read the reviews and take care of that little detail. Right, is good to read the reviews and look what happends with the program, and is a pratice that I'll do from here. <p> <p>Now, this is the warning, INSTALL THIS BY YOUR OWN RISK, it works fine (at least, for me) but once you uninstall it, it's like a headache. I searched why my pc reboots and finally found the cause and make all they say (about the Regedit). So, this is my history. Now you decide.

  If you want to screw up your pc, then go ahead and install... (really this is the good part!)

  Cons

  After installing the program didn't live up to its targets. Features didn't work the way I expected. <p>So I uninstalled it. <p>Next time I rebooted, I couldn't get past the login-screen if I didn't log in within about 15 seconds of showing the login-screen. <p>No help to be found, anywhere! So I searched for myself and found a solution. After uninstall, open up regedit and delete all keys containing a value "RAM Drive" (without quotes). My regedit found 3 keys, located in paths containing ControlSet00X where X is 2, 3, 4. <p>This solved the problem for me, hope it helps for you. <p>greetz

  Never could get a Ram Drive to work. (Drive kept showing up in Device Manager as "drivers not installed," even though I used the "install drivers" option in the program.) After installing this program, every time I rebooted, and didn't log onto Windows XP within 15 seconds, the computer rebooted itself. I uninstalled the program, but the rebooting problem continued. Plus, I was getting a "RAM Driver service could not be started" in Event Manager. EVEN THOUGH the program was already uninstalled. I had to go into the registry and manually delete the entries for this program, as well as go into the Windows folder and delete the files that were left behind. Then the rebooting problem went away. Support for this program stinks...there is NO help on their website. I'd stay away from this, unless you want headaches.

• Don't Install Unless You Like Un-Asked for Reboots!

  None to talk about because unless you log in to your computer within about 15 seconds the computer automatically reboots.

  Computer/Hardware: Toshiba Satellite P25-S477; P4 2.40 GHz; 1 GB RAM. <p> <p> <p>OS: Windows XP Pro SP2 <p> <p>After installing Extra Drive Creator Professional 6.6 at the log-in screen of every reboot user has approximately 10-15 seconds to successfully log in or the computer reboots. <p> <p> <p>As well, even after successfully logging in, if the user leaves computer the computer idle for several minutes the computer reboots. <p> <p> <p>When attempting to uninstall Extra Drive Creator Professional 6.6 it was not possible because apparently the application had neither it's own uninstaller nor did it show up in "Add/Remover Programs." <p> <p> <p>Manually deleted files installed by the application and the problem no longer occurs. <p> <p> <p>Wintools, the company the manufactures the software, was of no help, as their website's support section only lists an email address to which emails can be sent. No forums, no FAQ's, nothing. <p> <p> <p>Install this product at your own risk...

  My Norton Anti-Virus becam Currupted from making 2 Virtual Drives,i used the program un-install to un - intall that Virtual/forgot to delete the 2 drives i made with it first/When it went to syberSpace it took my CD_ROM Burner with it/so now i was without anti-virus software/no Burner/a few Windows files made Currupted /tried to install a copy of windows ( R ) as we will call it/ half way threw it.Along comes Bill asking for a file off the cd-rom copy of windows--> half installed with ( 39 ) minutes left to restore the system/ would not read the copy of windows/no-go-forward-no-go-back-messed all up/done needed to re format the whole drive/i was trying to find a program that would make my Ghost Recon work better/smoother-but got a bill to repair at the comp store.I am going to buy a XFX Revolution 64 3-port RAID SATA PCI Storage Processing Unit for Home Multimedia/ or a PNY 3Port S-Cure Data Protection Card/All dealer's who sell this virtual cd-rom card will be very hungry waiting for me to buy or install there crap/sorry that part to all viewers of this message. thank you for reading this.There is only one thing i see this download to do& needs to be removed from the sales list/ it's a form of making virus'es or something that don't know what is really for/an i am stupid for downloading it/you so smart to use it.do the opossite to all i did/ i told you so/ Thanks for readinng this/ sorry for it becoming a letter/we all can waste our time online-- hope we are able to do it in avery formal way..( THANK-YOU )

  after I installed this program I was unable to boot up my computer normally as it had tweaked with the ram settings unprofessionally I was forced to boot up in safe mode and uninstall it so that my computer could start up again

  The Virtual CD drive function is virtually useless. Does not have similar advanced features to much better programs for Virtual CD/DVD Drives such as Daemon tools or Alcohol such as bypassing Copy Protection that carrys over when making a disk image of a game for backup purposes.

  Pros

  First it does what it says. Crypt drive works perfect and it is very simple to mount.Container file (this contains the data you hide) cab be set to hidden also, by the explorer properties window so...go and find it!! Second, Virtual cd rom drives indeed they work with no problems. IT WORKS!

  Ram drive doesn't seem to make any difference...i couldn't figure out.

  Pros

  I'm pleased to see such a tool exist whereby "virtual drives" can be created. This is especially valueable at work by being able to create a secure "virtual drive" on the File Server or Filer.

  Cons

  This product wasn't the most intuitive and in comparing it to "Dekart Private Disk" I fould Dekart to be miles better and more simple. Dekart is what I currently use.
