  Double Anti-Spy, besides being below average in performance as illustrated in the PCMag review, is 1) no longer available from the publisher, Avanquest, 2) no longer supported by the publisher, Avanquest, 3) one of its two malware definition sets, "Malware Threat Definitions A", is no longer updatable, automatically or manually, 4) its program has not been revised or updated from Version 1.4.4.4 since the product was introduced 9/3/2009, and 5) even if you download the 14 day trial program from CNet, there is no way to buy it from Avanquest via the link provided in the program. Avoid it like the plague.

  Pros

  I like that its easy to install, and easy to uninstall. It seems to work, its caught a bunch of viruses. We used to own Norton anti virus, but changed to Double Antispy based on a recommendation from our tech wizard pal.

  Cons

  Nothing so far, but I'll let you know if it doesn't catch something bad.

  Summary

  I recommend double anti spy mostly because it seems to work well and the price is right.

  Nothing. Don't waste your time downloading a product that fakes the reviews of its own products.

  Cons

  First off, I was really put off by all the fake 5-star reviews. Any company that favorably reviews its own product is usually a terrible company to do business with. Anyway I downloaded this program and it does the same as the free programs.

  Summary

  Please don't support companies that provide fake reviews of their own product. It makes the review process useless. But companies like this would like that so you can't see how worthless their product is.

  Horrible product, doesn't even work. Crashes computer and I can't uninstall. I think the other positive reviews here are written by Avanquest marketing personal to be honest

  Waste of hours of my time trying to remove a piece of software that crashes my machine. Can't believe the other positive reviews here.

  THERE IS NOTHING GOOD ABOUT IT.

  High cpu usage and ur computer won't respond as soon as u run! u will delete it manually using ravo unistaller in safe mode and then remaining files in program files folder/ common files and also disable its services from startup in safe mode.

  DO NOT INSTALL THIS PROGRAM! IT IS NOT VIRUS,SPYWARE OR ANYTHING BUT IT REALLY FUCKS UP YOUR COMPUTER! IT DID TO ME BUT I FIXED IT AS I SAID IN CONS SECTION.

  This is a great program! It was easy to install and I feel better about making online transactions with it running. I love the summary report because you actually get to see what it did. I didn't have to use the customer support, but it comes with a free year of support via the phone or email for free! It also updates itself for free for a year.   I have been using Double Anit-Spy for a few days and really it (one I figured out that "serial number" was "registration key" included on the cd. I like that complete printed reference manual comes with the software and it is really use to use and look up things I have questions about. The program loaded really quickly and during it's first complete scan (which took a considerable amount of time, but you are warned of that upfront) it found 4 potential risks which the program identified by severity and quarantined. The recommended more frequent quick scan was considerably faster than a full scan, but it's really nice to have the ability to conduct a complete scan of the system and still have shorter scans more frequently. The other thing that I found to be convenient with this software was that 3, not 1, licenses were included. It is rare that homes only have 1 computer anymore and not having to buy separate software packages for each computer was an added bonus.   It works well, catches files other anti-spyware doesn't, catches them as they try to download and works without slowing downt he computer noticably.

  Cons

  I haven't found anything I dislike yet and I've had it for a month or so.

  This has worked so well for us! It has caught some malignant files as they were trying to download to the computer that were threats and quarantined them and when it's running a scan we hardly notice, which is such a great plus because our last software for this was a huge resource hog. It made it difficult to use the computer for the hours it took to scan it. Double Anti-Spy works much, much faster and doesn't interfere with our usage of the computer in any noticeable way.   Pros

  Totally easy. Lived up to its promise completely. Makes sense that there are 2 anti-spyware programs in one because everyone knows that one program alone seldom works. My laptop was completely hosed. I was ready to chuck it. Double Anti-Spy saved it.

  Cons

  Wish it was easier to find this software. I think it's new, but still ... I didn't find it in my local office supply store where I always shop so I didn't know about it. Would have saved me a lot of aggravation had I got my hands on it months ago.

  Summary

  The software is very easy to use. Installed with no issue. Then you literally click one button and then watch two progress bars while the software does it thing - first a progress bar for Engine A and then another for Engine B. Engine A did a great job, and then Engine B mopped up the remaining nastiness on my hard drive. Bottom line is that I got my computer back after it was essentially unusable for months!! Lots of ways to customize the program, but I didn't feel I needed to take advantage of those features quite so much. It basically just works. And it's head and shoulders above everything else I've used cuz I'll tell you - Webroot didn't do the trick. Either did Spy Doctor. And I'm pretty sure Norton actually made my computer worse, if that's possible. Anyways, I recommend Double anti-Spy wholeheartedly.
