Dashlane secures your online passwords with a single master password and stores your data locally with AES-256 encryption; plus it's one of the most secure and capable form-fillers available. You can sync data to a variety of devices, too, including (make that especially) smartphones. Dashlane works with most browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and IE). Recent updates include a password generator.

Dashlane's installation process involves three steps: Connect to your browsers, set up your account and profile, and secure and organize your data. A Custom installation option let us choose which browsers to use in case we didn't want to use them all (though your default browser should support it). To finish the installation, you must create and confirm a strong password: Do not forget this password since it's not stored anywhere but your system, and you'll need it to access encrypted data. After that, the Personal Data Assistant walked us through the steps of entering our address, contacts, IDs, payment information, and other data that we're constantly entering online; but if that's not easy enough, embedded video tutorials are a click away. Under Click to Pay, we could add credit card data, including issuing bank, security code, and color options. We could also click "Skip" to skip any step and come back to it later, if necessary. Dashlane's Security Dashboard organized all our Internet passwords and rated them for security (too many of ours showed very unsafe!), but color-coded ratings helped us sort out any issues. We clicked "Add Your First Purchase" under Internet Shopping to activate a feature that records an itemized receipt for everything we buy online when using Dashlane--how cool is that?

Activating Dashlane's extension in Chrome gave us instant access to our secure passwords, forms, and financial data from Chrome's toolbar or the Windows system tray. Though Dashlane does much more than most auto-complete tools, it proved surprisingly easy to use in everyday surfing. We've tried many similar tools, but none that does all that Dashlane does, let alone for free.

What’s new in version 6.1933.0.22573

This version fixes the issue that prevented the "Go to website" button from taking the full URL into account for some shared credentials. It also fixes an issue that made the app crash at launch because of missing website icons.

I like Dashlane's easy to use interface and functions
Stella1212January 7, 2018
Pros
I have used 1password for years, and then I changed to Dashalne. Dashlane's interface is more clear to know what to do next, and I don't need to be hesitate in seconds when I want to go next step. And its' functions does good to match my needings, like generating new passwords, saving and managing the web accounts and passwords, and my other online payment information and receipts
Cons
I don't like them sending me a lot of emails to urge me buy their full version, which got me very bored after I installed the trial version. I know it is their marketing, but I think they can think about to decrease the email sending frequency.
Summary
Dashlane is a very good password manager. If it don't send me so many urging emails, and provide a big discount for us to get the full version, it will be much better.
Dashlane is a gargantuan step up from LastPass
nlytnd1October 28, 2017
Pros
I was a LastPass user for years and I never realized how responsible it was for bogging my internet browsing. Also Ebay would take over 30 seconds to log into it everytime... I had no idea LastPass was the sol culprit until I started using Dashlane. - Switching from LastPass to Dashlane was so insanely fast and easy with every single one of my sites and passwords being switched to Dashlane (5 minutes).
Cons
Not a huge con, but it still boggles my mind - For chrome the Dashlane extension is required, which is fine however when you go into the extension it lists the sites in alphabetical order and you have to go into and select "last used" everytime you click into the extension... not a big deal, but so easily fixable. - if you create a new user account for a site or change the password for a site or whatever the Dashlane thing pops up right afterwards saying something along the lines of - do you want to replace previous account. Approx 50% of the time when you say yes, you then go to log into that site, the user name and/or password doesn't work and you have to get a new password sent to your email to log into the site. Randomly out of nowhere sometimes Dashlane won't appear or log into a site.
Summary
While Dashlane is a gargantuan step up from LastPass, I hope there is something better.
Product functions fine, price and service terrible
PixeldogJune 20, 2017
Pros
For the most part this product works well.
Cons
First, charging $39.95 per year for this product is ridiculous. Especially when it's closest competitor (sometimes rated even better than Dashlane) called LastPass is only $12.95 per year. Unfortunately I already renewed my subscription to Dashlane or I would have switched to LastPass. Secondly, I tried reasoning with Dashlane's customer service (email only, neither product has a phone number you can call), hoping they would price match or at least meet me in the middle. Instead I was sent pre-written auto-responses that simply touted Dashlane's features and did not at all address my concern. When I finally got the issue elevated I was pretty much so told (politely) no to any price matching.
Summary
In summary, I would highly suggest you try LastPass or another well rated password manager before spending more than you need to on Dashlane
This product saves and is very secure
jimmyp2509January 12, 2017
Pros
The product allows you to manage your passwords on many devices. It makes sure that you deal with security on all your sites. It is super easy to use and runs great on Windows and Mac platforms. Fills in forms and keeps your CC# safe, you don't have to let the seller keep your card.
Cons
The sharing function in a family is getting better. The setup is really easy you just have to pay attention as you set it up. Some sites have weirdness that form fill in function has trouble with, however, it is rare and all tools have trouble. (some humans have trouble)
Summary
Great tool, I highly recommend the premium version for syncing etc.. This tool saves you time and makes sure that you are safe. The security score makes you think about it. The first tool I can say works, no one knows my credentials including me. (unless i choose to know)
Been a user for 2 years and Dashlane is a lifesaver
CTkingpinJanuary 10, 2017
Pros
Really easy to use. Very intuitive and I use on 2 Apple devices, 1 PC, and 1 Android tablet and the user experience (features/menus) is pretty consistent across all. Love the automatic password changer feature, just wish it was available on more sites. Easy to share passwords securely with my family. Even my 10 year old loves Dashlane!
Cons
When you setup Dashlane the first time on a non-mobile device it automatically imports all of the passwords stored in your browsers. Awesome feature to get started fast but I didn't realize how old some of those accounts were in my browser, so it took some time to clean them up in Dashlane.
Summary
I did a lot of research before trying Dashlane and it seemed like they had a lot of happy customers and were endorsed by respectable non-commercial sites/people. 2 years later I can tell you it's a product I user EVERY day and tell people about it often.
Was a great product initially, won't fix safari issues
jeromepetersonDecember 16, 2016
Pros
Ability to work across all devices is convenient Auto password generator Store payment methods (CC's, Bank account info) Secure Notes Sharing with other Dashlane users
Cons
OS X: Syncing has been an issue for a long time, I opened a ticket about it and they are aware of it and have yet to fix it. Safari: Hardly works on most websites on iOS Mobile Safari and countless incompatible sites on Desktop Mac Safari browser. Overall, Dashlane just can't keep up with website changes, two-factor authentication, etc.
Summary
Initially, I loved the app. But recently despite Dashlane pushing out updates, I have grown frustrated with the compatibility issues with Safari mobile and Mac desktop browser. I will be looking for a different password manager program now.
Long term user just HATES Dashlane
RickisinVirginiaDecember 8, 2016
Pros
When it works, it's great
Cons
It doesn't work as often as it does. What a pain in the backside it has turned out to be.
Summary
I've been a premium Dashlane user for a year or more and have finally gotten fed up with it not being a reliable app. The thing about DL is that it has to be ON to work. For IOS devices, that means you have to manually start it every time you do a cold start on your device (like after restarting after your battery dies). And even when it's "ON", it often will not login to the site you want to use. To get DL to work, you have to restart DL, close the site, open it again and maybe DL will recognize it. Maybe. For W10 devices, the turn on is easy via the start menu, but even then DL will work sometimes, sometimes not. Ditto for autofill on forms. In short, you cannot depend on DL to do what a password manager should do. Bottom line, I need a new PW manager and will have to manually input all my DL PW into it. DO NOT go down the path I did. Changing now is going to be painful, but necessary for me.
Dashlane is a great password manager! I think.
March 21, 2016
Pros
The Pros are that you can store all of your passwords and you know they will all be safe and secure if you remember to log out every time you use it. Also you can store alot more than just passwords like: notes, phone numbers, receipts after you shop online + more and more.
Cons
Basically the only thing that I found bad was that you had to have the premium version to set up a back up!! :(
Summary
so overall I think that Dashlane is a great password manager and a good safe place where you can keep your passwords + loads loads more!!
Dashlane performance problems
Logansrun2000February 23, 2016
Pros
Strong feature set and it works with most websites. Being able to share passwords via the Sharing feature is nice.
Cons
Under Windows 7 and Windows 10, you might experience significant performance problems with your browser while Dashlane is enabled. A reboot helps but the performance issue can quickly return. My merely disabling the Dashlane extension in your browser, the pauses / freezes / stutters will go away.
Summary
I've been a fan of Dashlane for a few years. I use it on 4 different computers (Windows 7 and Windows 10), and on several mobile devices. But the performance hit on my computers has gotten worse and worse over the last 6 months. I use all 3 browsers (Chrome, Firefox and IE) in my technical work. Chrome is my preferred browser. The freeze ups and slow downs are bad. By merely un-checking Dashlane in my extension list in Chrome (to disable it), my browsing speed will go back to normal and any music I might be playing no longer stutters when I click to new web pages. Mouse movements stop stuttering once Dashlane's extension is disabled. I'm really frustrated. I now regularly toggle whether Dashlane is enabled/disabled in my browser so that my computer performance is normal. I've tried disabling my Norton anti-virus / firewall for short periods of time to determine if there's a conflict there but it doesn't make a difference.
Doesn't work with multiple page logins
cra777February 18, 2016
Pros
Easy to use and set up for sites where it works.
Cons
Many sites, specifically banking and credit card sites, use a multiple page login process. Dashlane acknowledges that they may not handle these sites properly and that was my experience. In order to make these work with Dashlane, you need to manually enter the login to get to the password page, where Dashlane will properly enter the password. Well, having to remember the login defeats the purpose of a password manager. This isn't a solvable problem with the software as written today, maybe a "smarter" version in the future will work. Until then, some other solution will be needed.
