  After struggling for two days to log data from my arduino to a text file I downloaded coolterm. Five minutes after installing the program I was logging data. Really easy to use. No learning curve.Thanks Roger !!

  Windows 7 dropped their hyperterm, but thankfully Roger provided something much better. Easy to learn and use!

  We use this program to talk with machines and has performed better then expected. It was very easy to learn. Who is it that said that nothing good can come from BASIC? Even now I am considering on getting Dark BASIC myself. Thank you Roger very much for this GEM that came about the right time. I hope that in a future edition that the changing of a CommPort, Baud Rate and Flow Control could be on the main GUI interface. Along with "Run" and "Stop" buttons with a repetitions input. Also perhaps with a two pane window, one that is an Editor and the other as a Terminal. This configuration would help in the quick test of Comm ports with a loopback. Also this could be helpful in snappy edit and results of edit.

  Pros

  Basically, it's what I wanted: a program to talk to COM ports only.

  Cons

  Uses control characters for local hotkeys (e.g., Ctrl-S to save), so there's no way to type the control characters for transmission.

  Summary

  For me, the abovementioned con was a deal-breaker, making the program useless.
