Cool Desk is a virtual desktop manager that allows you to create up to nine virtual desktops and display different windows in each of them. The desktop manager window has a skinnable interface and allows you to switch from one desktop to another with a single mouse click. You can easily minimize, maximize, close, move from one desktop to another, and even drop windows to the system tray area (near the clock) using the dockable Windows manager. Customizable hot keys help you to manipulate your virtual desktops. Drag your favorite applications and shortcuts over a specific virtual desktop icon to open it there. Each virtual desktop can also have its own wallpaper. Cool Desk supports multilingual interfaces. Version 3.87 includes unspecified updates.

Very easy to install(on windows XP home). Great idea to make real different desktops. Not working very well on my config : have to push F5 each time I change anything on a desktop, tricky to move files from a desk to another, wallpapers dont work well (they interfer with each other, they desapear frequently)

Cool Desk resets my Display refresh rate down to 60Hz every time I start it up. Switching between desktops with non-trivial wallpaper is not seamless.
Very useful program but crashes a lot and won't start everytime :(

Crashed a few times when I first tried it - I did not know Matrox Quick Desk was running. Has been stable since I removed Quick Desk. I find it usefull because I can have different sets of Shortcuts on each desktop. I have desktops for music, photo editing, business, system management etc. This keeps the desktop uncluttered with everything I need to hand for a particular task.

I absolutly love this product. I use it at work and it greatly increases my porductivity. I find it very easy to use and setup. The only thing's I have found wrong with it is if IE is open and you switch desktops and then the IE page you were on mkaes a pop up or changes the focus to it you will loose all you IE windows in that process. ALso if a program is hung it has problem switching desktops I have only used it on W2k and WXP so usuallly just kill any hung app

not as useful as it seems. remember if you run 30 apps at the same time your system may be less stable. Just because they're in different desktops isn't going to help. a few weeks after I registered it stopped working on my NT4 box at work. I get "application error" and it shuts down.

Window manager displays are inconsistent and uninformative, won't switch windows if an application is not responding, caused at least one complete crash of the Explorer desktop. Not recommended for W98.

I think it's a great idea and there are many in it's kind. I think it was easy to use and descrete. But it intend to lose one desktops information once in a while (I've now tried it for 1 hour and it has lost it twice.). It's like one desktop moves in over another and the place it used to be is empty. This is a problem ofcourse since I'm using it at work. I'm gonna keep trying it for a while, but if it keep doing this I cannot rely on it.
