Firefox is an open-source browser, and there are plenty of other browsers that are based on Firefox code with minor differences. CometBird is one such browser. Although for the most part it replicates Firefox pretty faithfully, it has a few unique features that set it apart.

We installed CometBird and then launched Firefox beside it; the two are almost--but not quite--indistinguishable. The typical menus are located in the typical places, although CometBird adds a "Softwares" menu that doesn't seem to do anything. CometBird doesn't seem capable of creating tab groups the way Firefox does, but it does show thumbnails of all your open tabs. The browser can import bookmarks from other browsers and also supports the use of Firefox Sync, enabling you to sync your browser information--passwords, history, and more--across multiple machines. In our experience CometBird didn't seem markedly faster than Firefox, but it did load pages quickly and was quite responsive to our commands. CometBird wouldn't be particularly interesting if not for two special features. One is a built-in media downloader you can use to download audio, video, and Flash files. Simply right-click on the page and select the file you want to download, and CometBird does the rest. We were quite impressed with this feature; it let us snag an MP3 that was embedded in a Web page that we hadn't previously been able to save. CometBird also comes with a built-in translator that is extremely handy if you're reading something in a language that you're not perfectly fluent in. Just hover your cursor over the word in question and CometBird automatically displays a translation. User forums and a modest amount of support are available on the CometBird Web site. Overall, CometBird is a useful alternative to Firefox, and we definitely think it's worth checking out.

CometBird installs politely but leaves a folder behind upon removal.

I have used this browser in the past. It is quite fast and reliable. Have never experienced any problems on Windows xp, vista, 7 or now 8/8.1
Cons
does not contain security features that you get with Comodo Dragon Or Comodo IceDragon.
Summary
Not sure what all the complaints about it crashing are. I have never ran into a problem like such. I am always looking for stable browsers with simple features and decent security. I recomend Comodo Dragon and IceDragon for it's superior security that all others lack.

This great little browser is Firefox, about 4 years ago. It's very fast, extremely stable, loads, and downloads videos Very quickly. I haven't liked a browser so much since the old, "Netscape," days! It does not render graphics quickly, and from time to time while I'm typing, as I am typing this update, the lettering falls behind what I'm typing. Now that might be my computer, BUT, I use Firefox, and Slimbrowser, and neither of them have this problem. I still like the browser! It is fast, but it will need to improve in these areas to be as useful as it can be. I will keep up with the updates. It's worth waiting for.
Fast but SECURITY Concern

Not only fast but loved the feature that it would open to the same pages where it was closed.

Crashes can slow your computer; nightmare to resolve but on the most part it is stable - just don't close it when it is opening a website. SECURITY ISSUE - see #5.
Summary
Loved Cometbird UNTIL a crash and found out a HUGE SECURITY concern. I could not restore a highly used website, kept on reloading so I wanted to back up my bookmarks and then wipe the program off and reinstall. That is when I found out: The download right from the cometbird.com website shows it is from "Shaunghai Comet Network Technology" - What does Shaunghai mean? "2.Coerce or trick (someone) into a position or into doing something." Herein is the secret, they shaunghai all your bookmarks, passwords and whatever you selected and it is saved on 'a remote server'. Who knows what security is there, and here all your personal and private passwords are gone from your control. And if you don't care about that, when you have happened what I had, then you have to remake ALL your bookmarks as in my case it keeps reloading, and reloading a very important webpage so it never gives me access. At least with Explorer I can go to my harddrive and retrieve or fix the issue.

this is a nice little browser, super lite and super fast....blows all other browsers away!! In a league of its own! puts chrome, firefox, IE to absolute shame!

best liteweight browser on the www, give it a try, take a couple days to get used to it and you'll never go back to chrome or whatever your using at the moment! super fast!

I didn't find anything exceptional with this browser. I "resembles" Firefox is about the best thing I can say about it.
Cons
Poor graphics. Could not transfer my bookmarks from Firefox. Installed unwanted (mal?)ware.

wow, looks similar to google chrome, but WAY faster It's loads way faster and does everything faster, my son has it on windows 7 pro and i with XP pro and it blows everything I have away, chrome, firefox, Opera, Pale Moon, IE, Avant, Dragon. I think that for the others Firefox 14 and Dragon are the best, Opera Portable works very well too, but it won't save to my pc for some reason. Download it and put it too work

Pros
Like other Firefox-based browsers, it has the best kind of arrangement for tabs, running across the screen and having surplus tabs off screen rather than scrunching them up. Seems to run well with a significant number of tabs (around 30 now).
Cons
Don't like the way it handles bookmarks as much as Firefox. Doesn't have Google Toolbar. Seems to be using more memory per tab than Lunascape. Brings along with it a "plugin-container.exe" that is a memory hog.
Summary
Will be keeping it and am happy to have it as default for now.
Pretty much my default browser now.
