If you're looking for an open source password manager, Bitwarden can store and autofill your passwords on Mac as well as on Windows, iPhone, and Android devices and popular browsers via extensions.

Pros

Generates and manages passwords and log-in info: With Bitwarden's Mac app, you can generate strong passwords for the websites and apps you use. If you are switching over from another password manager, you can import your passwords and other log-ins from other password managers via the Bitwarden website.

Sync via the cloud: With Bitwarden's cloud-based vault, you sync your log-in information across all your devices. Bitwarden has password managers for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android and browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Tor.

You can also manage log-in info through the cloud and create new log-in items. You can't generate new random passwords via the cloud, however, but the company says that ability is in the works.

Free account: You can use Bitwarden across all your devices and keep everything synced for free. You can also share log-in info with a person you trust.

Affordable subscription: For $10 a year, a premium account provides 1GB of encrypted cloud storage and two-step authentication. And you can share items with five people.

Open source software: Bitwarden is open source, with the software hosted on GitHub.

Cons

No way to reset your master password: As with most password managers, if you forget your master password, BitWarden has no way of retrieving it for you. Worst case, you need to delete your account and start again.

The action happens with the browser extension: The Bitwarden app is helpful for managing your passwords, but autofilling requires a Bitwarden extension for Firefox or Chrome or whichever browser you use.

Bottom Line

The open source Bitwarden password manager lets you manage your log-in information across your devices for free.
